User Reviews for
Weber 18.5-in One Touch Silver 441001 Grill
- By OldCleat 09/16/2005
- Pros:
The 18-1/2 inch Weber Kettle is the perfect grill for 80 of grillers out there. It is the perfect size for most, it is easy to use, it is durable, it is value priced. - Cons:
If you grill for big groups, it may be too small. That's about it. Then you can get yourself a 22 1/2 incher. -
Summary:
This is the perfect grill for 80 percent of the grillers out there. It is tough, big enough to handle most grilling or barbecuing jobs, small enough that you can fire it up to grill some burgers for dinner without wasting too much charcoal, and versatile enough to grill most types of food that you'd like to grill. I just bought a new one, because the handle on the last one I had (my second) broke off after eight years or so of service. I've grilled everything from Jerk Pork to Pizza to steak to salmon to hot dogs to . . . well, you name it. And, remember, it is charcoal, so you need to plan a bit ahead (about 20 to 30 minutes) to have the best-tasting food you can possibly get. It ain't gas, which is a good thing.I will say, if you have a large family, you may want a bigger kettle. If you like to smoke meats, and you don't want to buy a smoker, you will want the bigger kettle. I broke down a few years ago and bought a smoker, which was another fine purchase but not a topic for this review. I used to do some slow smoking in the 18-1/2 incher, and it is not easy. No matter where you put the coals, you still cook the meat instead of smokin' it. And if you want instant gratification and can't plan ahead, go ahead and buy a gas grill. Just get two tanks of propane, because you'll run out. Also, this is a good purchase for those of you who have the gas grill but would like your steak, pork chop, or burger to taste better.
