Why Buy Wii?

Why Buy Wii?

Video games have come a long way since the days of the joystick. Nowadays video gamers are too technologically savvy to be entertained by weak graphics and limited video game story lines. The selection of video game systems on the market is staggering, and Nintendo is trying it's hardest to stand out from the pack with the launch of the Wii. If you're undecided, you might be asking why buy a Nintendo Wii? The Wii offers five distinct perks that the competition has yet to catch up with. The following are five answers to the question "Why buy Wii?"

1. Innovative Technology

One of the main reasons to consider buying a Wii is for the state-of-the-art motion sensor technology. Nintendo Wii offers a dual remote control and game controller, somewhat resembling a television remote. This "wiimote" replaces a traditional hand-held controller other video game systems use. The motion sensor in the wiimote allows you to physically act out the functions you want the game to perform; swing a bat, cast a reel, sword fight, etc. When you buy Wii it also comes with a "nunchuck" adapter that plugs into the wiimote for more advanced motion sensitive play. Either way, the Wii allows you to physically participate in the video game. No other console even comes close.

So, why buy Wii? Nintendo's cool wiimote lets you physically get into video games instead of just mashing buttons.

2. Incredible Video Game Selection

The Wii has built in wireless networking (wi-fi) and free access to Nintendo's online service "wiiconnect24", 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Here you can buy Wii games online and download them to the console, including almost all of Nintendo's back catalog of video games like Donkey Kong, Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda and more. Will the free internet access last forever? Who knows? In the meantime, it is ideal to buy Wii games and download them whenever you want.

Wii also has the legacy compatibility for all GameCube video games. You do have to plug your GameCube controller into the Wii to play. Wii also offers the "Mii" channel, which allows you to customize avatar images of yourself, friends or even celebrities, and use them as characters to play in select games. True, the graphics quality is somewhat cartoon-esque. But expect to buy Wii video games in the future with supped up graphics to make hard-core gamers happy.

So, why buy Wii? Wii plays all the classic Nintendo video games, Wii-only video games, GameCube games, as well as the ability to create your own image and star in select Wii games.

3. Affordable Price

For only $250, when you buy Wii you get the sleek white Wii console system, one wiimote, the nunchuck adapter attachment, standard cables, power adapter, Wii stand and the Wii Sports video game. Leave it to Nintendo to bring back the old school video game marketing genius. Other video game systems sell for two to three times that amount, and don't include any video games.

So, why buy Wii? Because it's affordable (that is, if you can find it on the shelves).

4. Non-Gamer Friendly

You'll find when buying a Wii, it is user friendly out of the box. Wii has an easy set-up system that walks you through everything, including connecting the wi-fi. Wii supports up to 4 controllers, three of which you'll have to buy separately. But this means you can play with more than just one other person. Plus, the video games themselves are easier to learn out of the box, rather than furiously pushing buttons on a traditional video game controller.

So, why buy Wii? Because you can still enjoy your video games, and include video game newbies (like your family or your girlfriend) in the fun too.

5. Exercise

The wiimote and nunchuck controllers force you to physically perform the actions you want the video game to perform. For example, in bowling you have to hold the wiimote, swing your arm back and follow through just like you are actually bowling. This means you're moving body parts to play Wii video games that normally would be stationary if playing other video game systems. Imagine all the exercise when you buy Wii games that the kids end up playing for hours.

So, why buy Wii? Unlike other video games, the Wii gets you off the couch and moving around. Get really good and you just might lose a pound or two.
