Do you prefer to wear something fancy or frugal on your feet? Whether you're a sexy stiletto-heel wearer or a fan of sporty sneakers, your shoes speak volumes about your personality. According to research, Mindset Media revealed that people who purchased more than three pairs of shoes a year are likely to be assertive and spontaneous leaders. To keep your shoes from making you look like a snooze even if you're a snazzy lady, check out this fun guide to help you figure out what your heels reveal so that you can match your feelings to your flip flops and your boots to your behavior.
Shoe Style: Super-high heeled stilettos
Character Footprints: Sexy, confident, and walking with intentions.
Perfect Personality Picks: These Oh... Deer! Jamocha T-Strap Pumps and Peep Toe Pumps.
Toe-Tapping Tip: Walk around the store before buying very high heels to make sure you aren't choosing shoes that you can't walk in. While stilettos are sexy, a public fall certainly is not.
Shoe Style: Ballet Slippers
Character Footprints: Soft, casual, and comfortable in all environments.
Perfect Personality Picks: These Tory Burch Ballet Flats and these Suede Knotted Ballet Flats.
Toe-Tapping Tip: Ballet slippers tend to stretch with wear, so to avoid having shoes that slip off after a few walks, consider purchasing a slightly snug size and breaking them in at home.

Shoe Style: Wedge-Heeled Shoes
Character Footprints: Stylish, feminine and always sure-footed.
Perfect Personality Picks: These espadrille wedges and these wedge sandals.
Toe-Tapping Tip: Wedges are perfect for outdoor events where you'd like to wear heels. Unlike regular pumps, wedges won't sink into the grass.

Shoe Style: Flip Flops
Character Footprints: Youthful, laid-back and unpolished
Perfect Personality Picks: These Juicy Couture Flip Flops and these embellished flip flops.
Toe-Tapping Tip: If you feel flip flops are too comfortable to take off, consider purchasing flip flop-styled sandals made of leather (like these) for a more put-together look.
Shoe Style: Knee-High Boots
Character Footprints: Daring, powerful and not afraid to be noticed
Perfect Personality Picks: These Steve Madden Leather Knee Boots and these fashion forward boots.
Toe-Tapping Tip: If you see knee-high boots that you like but find that the material isn't forgiving enough to zip up over your calf muscle, don't despair. Take your pair to a cobbler, who can easily insert a color-coordinated elastic panel at the seams to give the boots the stretch you need.
Shoe Style: Sneakers
Character Footprints: Besides being athletic, not fussy and constantly on the go traits also include being assertive, spontaneous and a leader.
Perfect Personality Picks: These New Balance 759 Walking Shoes and these The North Face 'Cooper's Hill' Running Shoes.
Toe-Tapping Tip: Wearing sneakers without socks causes your shoes to smell, so if you're in love with your sneaks but hate the way they look with slouchy socks, invest in "hidden" socks that only cover the base of your foot and heel. Available at all department stores, these socks will bring added comfort and lengthen the life of your sneakers.
Shoe Style: Slip-On Slides
Character Footprints: Dainty, elegant and ultra-girly.
Perfect Personality Picks: These dress slides and these Spotspot Slides.
Toe-Tapping Tip: Slides aren't wearable by everyone and some women's walking styles create a constant clacking sound when they're in shoes without heels. If you gait isn't a perfect fit with your slides, start investing in shoes with heel straps to avoid annoying others.

1. It takes all kinds of shoes to fit the multi-dimensions of most women. Rick

3. I wear ballet flats each day for comfort and for style. They are perfect for a busy Mom like myself. I do not agree with the author about buying shoes that are "snug". OUCH! Buy shoes that properly fit your foot or you run the risk of having shoes that hurt and that defeats the main purpose of wearing flats -- FOR COMFORT!

4. It seems that those of us who dress western don't count as women.....I wear lace-up ropers with a riding heel, flat-soled ropers, and slip-on ropers. For work (I run heavy equipment to build roads and to lay underground utility pipes) I wear lace-up work boots with a low heel and composite sole. What does that say about my personality?

7. I'd love to wear high hills but I'm so clutzy I have to wear flats or I'll fall over. Yes, it has happend in public before.

8. Man... I own all of those. Haha.... what does that say about me? Lol. =D Multi-personality? Lol.

9. I totally agree with Beth. The shoe personality thing is mumbo jumbo. I have MS too and I live in my sneakers... I have a floating patella too! Sometimes shoes do fit the personality but most of the times not! I've been shopping with friends who have grabbed shoes so NOT them because they just caught their eye and they said they'd never wear something like that again!

10. Certainly, your venue would determine your footwear 99% of the time. Therefore, I don't necessisarily feel shoes play a huge part in one's personality unless you are looking at the non-working, non-formal-wearing, or non-special event arena. That leaves "playtime"...the exception to personality definiton by footwear. Then, there's the evening vs daytime pick. This playtime look would really be the only accurate "you-shoe" personality tell-tale time because such a time allows you to wear what you like with no restrictions. I own at least a couple pair of each style of shoe shown in this article, but depending on my venue and the occasion, I wear what works with my outfit or the style best suited for the occasion. Defining or honing-in on one's personality based on commonly worn footwear may not be so accurate in my book because there are too many criteria thrown into the mix to consider when selecting your toe toppers!

11. They didn't say anything about practical shoes! Hiking boots, moccasins, crocs, that stuff. Are practical people just too practical for this?

12. Your shoes don't say much about you if you have issues with your back or feet. Other than you are still trying to get around and keep walking. For some of us, walking is a luxury. I love to walk, I love pretty shoes, but if I have to walk more than just a few feet, I need special shoes. They aren't all that attractive, but at least I am able to still be amoung the walking folks. Without them I would need a mobil chair. I am still a girl at heart even at 61... I still love to be fashionable, too.

13. But what about those certain women that wear skater shoes and things on that line?
Posted at 2:33PM on Apr 7th 2008 by Camille
14. Maybe a woman wears flats because she has um...MS and can't walk the few steps she can take in anything else? I'd LOVE to wear flashy stilettos but I'd love more to not break my leg when I fall down. Flats are not my personality. They're a necessity. :(

15. But what about those people who wears skater shoes and something along those lines?

16. You are absolutely right about shoes! I use to work for Dillards Dept.Store, in the Ladies shoe Dept. I could always tell a persons personality by the shoes they wore, but I tried very hard to bring out their happy side, and introduce them to new shoes and lift their spirits, and yes I am a woman myself, so I really know what we as women really want, some excitement, fun, and to be spontaneous, and yet still hold our selves as highly regarded women when we want to be in our leader roles, and have fun when we just want to be Moms, single women,or even Grandmothers enjoying our Grandioso days with our Grandchildren, whatever kind of woman we feel like being for the day, we can put on the shoes that best fits us for the day, Even the most richest woman in the world has her fun days!!!! So get busy having more fun and relaxed days, and put on your favorite pair of shoes, and shop til you drop!!! I love shoes, and I don't know a woman on earth who doesn't love to wear hers either. Have a Great Day, and you bet our shoes do say alot about who we are as women and we are proud of it!!!! Virginia Davis

19. I live in my work boots, even try as long as possible when summer rolls around. They are a perfect shoe for a Mom LMAO You dont like ummm don't look.. My feet like umm and thats all that matters! Even when they are mud and soot covered from work!

20. What about people who go barefooted most of the time, but when they go out...do the high heeled thing? Yes I am assertive, confident, and daring. Okay that covers the high-heeled aspect of my personality. But I must have a split personality because as soon as I am able to throw off the shoes and go foot-naked I am in heaven.
