If you like to play Pokemon games or love the Pokemon cards, you can thank Satoshi Tajiri, the Japanese designer of the original Pokemon game. But his inspiration for the original Pokemon game didn't come from favorite childhood stories or cartoons or movies. No, it came from bugs! He loved catching the little critters that not many of us like very much, and he thought it would be pretty cool if he could make them fight. So, he replaced his real life bugs with Pokemon monsters, spent six years designing the game, and finally released it to the public. It quickly became a hit in Japan, where to this day, Pokemon games are still quite popular. It was the video game giant Nintendo, however, that would introduce Pokemon games to the world and spur the international Pokemon craze that has been going on for a decade. The very first Pokemon games released by Nintendo were Pokemon Blue and Pokemon Red. They could be played on the Game Boy, one of the very first popular handheld gaming devices. Since then, Nintendo has released dozens of Pokemon games to play on the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, and its newest release, the Nintendo Wii. Even though Pokemon X has come and gone, there are also board games, simple games with dice, and DVD games, so anybody looking for Pokemon games to play should be able to find something they love from the wide selection.
Pokemon Video Games
Those of us who play Pokemon games know that they've changed throughout the years. But, our mission to become the best Pokemon trainer ever has never wavered, and neither has our love for Pokemon video games. Thankfully, Nintendo continues to release Pokemon video games year after year, allowing gamers to enjoy bigger and better Pokemon game adventures as their consoles and systems continue to advance.
Pokemon Fire Red and Pokemon Leaf Green allowed gamers to play Pokemon games on the Gameboy Advance, the next generation of the original, black and white Gameboy. Both of these Pokemon games were quite similar to each other, the major difference being that they featured different characters. The colored Pokemon games obviously provided a more entertaining and visually appealing gaming experience. These popular Pokemon video games finally allowed female Pokemon fans to play as girl Pokemon trainers. Seems Nintendo finally recognized that girls were into Pokemon games just as much as boys -
and every bit as good at it, we might add.
When the Nintendo 64 was released, there were suddenly even more Pokemon games to play. Pokemon Stadium quickly became a popular Pokemon game, and Pokemon Snap could only be conquered by successfully taking photos of the naturally shy and elusive Pokemon.
Nintendo DS ushered in a new era for those who like to play Pokemon games using handheld devices. Pokemon Trozei for Nintendo DS is a popular Pokemon game that features a puzzle motif. Players must make lines of Pokemon to rescue them. Sounds addictive! And, with the recent release of the Nintendo Wii, there are even more Pokemon games to play. It seems that Americans want their Pokemon games, no matter how advanced video game technology becomes.

Trading Cards: The Basis for a Hot Pokemon Game
Aside from Pokemon video games, the favorite among those who like to play Pokemon games is the Pokemon
trading card game. You've probably seen the cards; maybe you assumed that kids were simply collecting them the way previous generations collected baseball cards. Pokemon cards are for far more than collecting, they are also for playing the Pokemon Game. To play the Pokemon game, all you need is a couple decks of cards, a coin, and a few counters. Players battle for the position of top trainer (i like May and Misty) by pitting their Pokemon against their opponent's. Energy cards, trainer cards, and the ability to create stronger Pokemon all figure into the strategy of the game. A winner is declared when one player's Pokemon is defeated. If you want to play this fun Pokemon game, just pick up a Pokemon-Epic Collection Theme Deck Box-9 decks 60 cards, a Pokemon Collector Tin to store them, and ask a fellow Pokemon game fan to teach you the rules.
