The Hottest Lipstick Color Is...

From the Editors at Netscape

... very surprising. Find out how to get your lips a luscious shade of the season's most in-demand color.

The hottest lipstick color is nude. Yes, this is one time that every woman should go nude!

But achieving the look of wearing no shade at all doesn't mean that you wear nothing on your lips. "Instead, getting your lips a luscious shade of nude means finding the best lipstick for you, and getting your lips ready to bare all with the TLC that they deserve," says Carefair.com.

So what color is best for that oh-so-sexy nude look? More than a color, it's a subtle tint. Keep your coloring in mind when you choose a lipstick shade. For example, blondes with fair complexions should look for a pink shimmer, while those with darker brown hair and darker skin should look for caramel or ginger tints.

Here's a big advantage to nude lips: Using less color on your lips means you can play up your eyes with bold shades and even metallic hues. It gives you a fresh, clean look.

The best way to apply lipstick:

1. Start with soft, kissable lips. Condition your lips by gently exfoliating them before bedtime. Complete the process by slathering your lips with petroleum jelly and buff with a damp washcloth.

2. When applying lipstick, first place a layer of foundation over the surface of your lips.

3. Apply your favorite nude lipstick shade.

4. Want a sexy pout? Add a hint of gloss across the center of your lower lip.

5. Glam up your lips for that special evening out by using a tinted lip gloss. This gives your lips lots of shine, but a subtle, natural-looking color.

6. To make your lips look fuller, add a touch of red lipstick to the center of the bottom lip. Blend it in well and then top it off with a bit of gloss.

In my heart - a womans lips are her most prized asset visually. Nude is a sensuous color that brings attention only to the lips and not the color on the lips. Excellent!

The headline reads, "Why more women are going nude". And it's about lipstick.

What a wonderful thing - the entire cosmetic industry is a multi-billion dollar industry based on the underlying premise of repeatedly telling women that they are not good enough as they are - that being natural isn't natural, but that women could be alright if they just purchase a variety of products. The cosmetic industry is, at least partially, responsible for ruining the self-esteem of millions of women. Women have been conditioned to feel that they need these products before they can leave their homes - some even before they can leave their bathrooms. Now we have a "new" "fashion trend" - nude lips. Buy definition, nude means without (clothing, make-up, etc.), but the cosmetic gurus have redefined it to mean "a variety of products that can be sold to make your lips look nude because actual nude is natural and natural isn't good." Truly, if we need a "nude look", don't you really think that just not wearing make-up might accomplish this? It's just a thought, an opinion. Perhaps I am wrong, however, in suggesting women might be good enough just the way they were created, but don't tell anyone; it might put a multi-billion dollar industry out of business.

Finally. I hate lipstick on women, especially older ones. Natural lips are beautiful and sexy. Those harsh bold colors only make lips look smaller and pursed.

As an ex-makeup artist, I disagree, nude looks great if you're in your 20's or 30's...but women over 40 need some color, nothing drastic...stay away from browns, dark reds, etc. But try a deeper neutral pink shade, otherwise you will look very washed out in a nude pale shade.

To much lipstick is terrible. Just look at the old reruns of the CLOSER and notice that Kyra's lipstick has changed from bright red to a lighter shade. Many viewers including me voiced opinions about the look. Ladies keep your lips natural.

You know, make up is just something that is fun. Following the trends, is fun... and a luxury. It's important to know you can be beautiful without all of this, especially in times like these.

Nude might be a great color on younger women but I am 48 and need a little color to the lipstick.. A soft mauvish pink works best for me..Leave the nudes the the 18-27 year old crowd..

Kyra Sedgwick or whatever her last name, has the nastiest lips/mouth ever. Her mouth is like the joker, it stretches from the end of her jawline to the other end of the jawline. Ew.
Get some surgery, I can't stand seeing that much uglyness on tv.
    Thanks.

Wizard, you hit the nail on the head big time. Aside from how sexist it all is, anybody who has enough time to go through the 6 ridiculously complicated steps listed in this article just to make their lips look like they're not made up is somebody who needs to get a life. When the media start telling men that they're not "acceptable" unless they invest hours each day into changing the way they look, maybe then I'll start spending more than a minute each day putting on makeup. Or if I win the lottery, maybe...

I disagree with you Karen. I look at the woman's face and eyes first, then check out her legs. I don't really care about the size of her breasts that much. And for her butt, as long as it's not huge, I'm okay with it. Then the next thing is to talk with her.

I knew a woman who was very pretty and nice. She had nothing upstairs and looked very thin, so I figured she had skinny legs. I didn't care. I was crazy about her. When we did get together, she had the nicest pair of legs I've ever seen in my life. They can surprise you.

I've had two women "apologize" for the size of their breasts. I told them I didn't care. So imagine how self-conscious some women are because they think ALL men want large breasts. Well, I don't.

I forgot to add in my post, that most of the women I've known, didn't wear much lipstick if they did use any at all.

And by the end of the night when the kissing started, most of their lipstick had worn off. Otherwise, I would have come home looking like Bozo the Clown with Ruby Red lips. LOL!

My mother rarely used lipstick and they say men tend to pick out women like their mothers. So I picked out women who were naturally pretty and didn't use much make-up. As for lips, I prefer women whose top lip barely comes over their bottom lip. Just a little bit.

I am so sorry to tell you that Bozo the Clown has recently pased away. He will be missed. I knew that an AOL article with women and nude in the title wouldn't take me to a Nude Site. I was just curious to see where it would lead me.
What is "IN" constantly changes to make you throw out the old and to buy the next new fad.
