The only thing worse than spending all your time doing housework is spending all your money doing housework. Cleaning is unpleasant enough without being expensive, but when you look at the price tags on some vacuum cleaners, the whole idea can be downright miserable. On the other hand, if you can find a good discount vacuum, you can get a deal on a machine that can make your chores a little more bearable. Some of these discount vacuums are even robotic, so you'll hardly have to do any work at all. These five discount vacuum cleaners won't do all your housework for you, but they'll help.
If you really, really hate vacuuming, then you will love the Roomba vacuums from iRobot. The Roomba Discovery is a robotic discount vacuum cleaner that does all the hard work for you. Just turn it on and it starts working. The Roomba is low to the ground, so it can maneuver under tables, couches, and beds, and works on hard and carpeted floors. With a robotic discount vacuum, you can have spotless floors all the time with next to no effort on your part.
For a dorm room or apartment, all you really need is a good handheld discount vacuum. Dirt Devil has been making discount handheld vacuums for years, and the Dirt Devil Scorpion is ideal for simple vacuuming chores. This discount vacuum is one of the cheapest handheld models available, but it works as well as any.
If you need an industrial strength discount vacuum, try the Shop-Vac Wet/Dry 9620600 Vacuum. As the name suggests, this vacuum is suitable for wet or dry cleanup jobs, and it comes with lots of extra tools including extension wands, a special liquid nozzle, and a crevice tool. This super powerful discount vacuum is quieter than you'd expect, too -- in fact, it's near silent when operating.
Dyson doesn't make cheap vacuums, but they make the best ones, and any Dyson you can find for under $500 is a discount vacuum. The Dyson DC25 All Floors Ball Vacuum is one of their most popular models, and you'll love it. It's not a robot -- you'll still have to push it yourself -- but it steers so smoothly you might even think it's fun. It works on all floor types, and you'll be amazed at how powerful, smooth, and fast this vacuum is.

I have a Dyson 14 animal, I vacuum my throw rugs in the kitchen, hard floors, and carpet. I agree the rollers get wrapped up with hair and stuff, but all vacuums do. I wish they had stiffer brushes on the rollers but thats my biggest problem with Dyson.

Beware of Dyson vaccuums. They void pretty much any carpet warranty and they suck the padding right into the carpet. They do a great job, but may end up doing more harm than good in the long run.

I have had Dyson DC25 now for 6 months and love it. It is by far the best machine I have had in my 40 years of vacuuming. Great suction and actually turns tight corners with the twist of your wrist. It is light (16 lbs.) and easy to clean up. It gets up far more dirt than any other vacuum I have had. I had to laugh when I read the other reviews.
replyFor the record:
1. it does not pull padding through the carpet.
2. Void carpet warranties.
3. It is much quieter than most vacuums
4. the rollers do not “get filled with stuff.” (It rolls on a 10” ball.)
Go try one for yourself you will be a believer.

What is wrong with you all. None of these vacuums "suck", they just spread dirt around. I have tested several of them and put them up against a 30 year old Electrolux, (the orginal Electrolux, made in the USA), and not one compares. Even my 2 year old Aerus,(formerly Electrolux), out cleans all these. Sure Aerus machines cost more, but when you only have to buy one every 30 years, the price is worth it. Aerus Lux machines really "suck". Forget these cheap, 1 year wonders. They are just a lot of bells and no cleaning.

People who own Dysons dont know what a real vacuum looks like. Probably because they never owned a vacuum that was any good anyways. There are many other vacuums out there that will out perform a Dyson anyday. Like the Riccar, an American made vacuum that is built on quality. The reason Dysons cost so much is because of the advertising. News flash, a Dyson is made in Malaysia and doesnt cost that much to produce.

Yeah, I don't see why anyone needs to go buy expensive cleaners when you can get discount vacuum cleaners. It's kind of a DUH thing to do.

I would love to buy discount vacuum cleaners! (Especially the Roomba) I like the idea of a little vacuum doing everything itself, without having to do anything myself. :)
