I have always LOVED Thanksgiving, and it has long been my favorite holiday. This article is the antithesis of all of the reasons that I love Thanksgiving. It is not a consumer holiday; it is not about spending money. I love it because it is about being with your loved ones, enjoying food, and being THANKFUL and GRATEFUL for all of the blessings we already have!

Thank you for the film recommendation! It really illuminates the obsession this country has with shopping.

Sorry you don't have to spend all that money on instruments. If you need a baster 1.99 tops,meat thermometer maybe 5.00.Carving knife you can get that for anywhere from 10.00 and up.It's nice to put on a pretty spread but you can put alot of love in it for a lot cheaper.If the food is good and the company pleasant you can even get away with paper plates. They have some real pretty ones out there.Clean up is alot quicker and you have time to play games. Happy Thanksgiving

wow you people are crazy all you need for a GREAT thanksgiving is any kins of pots and pans you have will do the trick dishes are all ok and all that other stuff is really dumb think of the economy you will also need whatever food your family likes for this day and of course family and friends. have a great THANKSGIVING

Some of these things are needed, but the prices are much less expensive at Walmart, Kmart, some of the dollar stores or second hand stores like Goodwill, Arc and local second hand stores.

I've been married 57 years and had 57 Thanksgivings. No you do not need all of that. You do need a good cook book, go to the library, copy what you need. Use foil, line your pan for the turkey, put a tent over it, rub on some butter. You know how to tell when its done? Wiggle the leg and if it is loose, it is cooked through. I put an apple and an onion in the cavity of the turkey for flavor and make the pan of dressing on the side. Don't forget to take the giblets out of the front flap of skin, I did that one year, it cooks but doesn't look too nice. Relax, have fun. Ask each one of your guests to bring something then everyone can relax and have fun. Enjoy!

10 must haves ????? do you even know what Thanksgiving is ???? It has nothing to do with buying your CRAP. Did you know that Turkey was not the meal at the first Thanksgiving??? On that table you would have found most likely Seafood and Quail , some Deer meat. These are what would have been found around here. The big bird came along in the 1940s to the table. We had not made it that far west on the first dinner. How soon they foreget. Or should I say how little do you really know.
