Thank you for the tips. If I had to wewrite it, I would put the star for the top of the tree as #1. I think it all starts there. It has always been the turning point for the season when it goes up there and the rest - just unfolds after this. Then all the decorations and cooking can begin. But once the star is atop - well then it is official. Merry Christmas and may your star shine brightly this year. Let the brightness reach out to those in need.

The star on the top of the tree is definitely the start of Christmas, I agree. Several years ago I received an angel similar to the one that my family always put on top of the Tree. Now, I look forward to adorning our tree with the beautiful angel with gold tinsel and a georgeous halo. And, I plan on carrying on this tradition because my little girl now say's "Mom, is it time to put the Angel on the Tree yet?" It has become her job and she loves it! May The Angel bring Strength and Hope to those during this recession and during the Holidays.

My online pals out of the USA say that Chistmass is an American thing, and then go on about capitalism. Well, I think that they are missing the point. Some people only get to see their families on the holidays because of distance, work, and unfortunately war. So if we go alittle hog wild for the holidays...so be it. We might not be around for the next one. I personally am laid off but that doesn't keep me from being excited to spend quality time with my family. Even though we don't all get along all the time, its a relief that at least once a year we can pretend to. Call me an optomist but that can be the foot in the door for the potential to not pretend next year and make good memories. People forget that we are responsible for how we feel, not the people around us. I feel sad that some people are so pesimistic and stuck in the past that they forget that we have the power to change anything personal that we want.
My you all find your personal peace this Christmass

Christmas is my favorite holiday. I transform my home into a magical fantasy Winter Wonderland. However the upside down tree is a bit of a stretch, even though I would appreciate the extra space (more room for polar bears & elves). I will probably try your tip about carving out bread to serve in. Bread soup bowls are always a hit when we go out.

Digital frames can help with Christmas decor- at home or the office. If you have a co-worker who's always taking pics at the office parties, get some old photos from past parties and load up a digital frame. This is a great idea for family get-togethers, church parties, etc. Everyone loves to laugh at an old hairdo & a drunk unc! You can also purchase photo albums at the dollar stores & print old photos for family members & friends. Give the gift of time- offer to gather, sort, upload, download, etc. pics for a family member that would love to give this kind of gift but doesn't have the time. These projects are also great for teens.

I am determined to be less stressed this year for Christmas! Some of these tips will really help!

We always enjoy a Holiday Wine Exchange party. We try to hold it each year Mid-November before the crush. Kicks off the holiday season, great to get together with friends and so easy to do. Everyone brings 2 bottles of the same wine and a dish they like with it. We taste our way through the night and at the end - everyone gets to take home a bottle they liked.

In early November we also like to do a be Thankful for Friends dinner. While the holidays are a time to reconnect with family it's nice to take some time to tell our friends we appreciate having them in our lives.
