Beautiful Brush Collections

Brushes are such an important part of every makeup artist's kit, and we beauty "civilians" know by now that we're supposed to be using them, too. But figuring out which brushes to buy, how to use them and what the best versions are can be extremely daunting for somebody (like yours truly!) who hasn't spent time at professional beauty school. That's why I'm a huge fan of brush collections: quality brushes of various sizes and uses are paired together in a can't-miss kit that even the most confused of us can get behind! Here are a few of my favorites.

Smashbox Wish for the Perfect Tools brush set ($49): These 5 top-quality brushes (a blush brush, blending brush, eye crease brush, shadow brush and angled precision brush) come housed in a beautiful hot-pink roll that will fit into even a small purse or travel kit. Even better, $1 from every purchase is donated to the Children's Miracle Network--so you're buying something that's beautiful on many levels.

MAC Magic, Mirth and Mischief Everything Eye brush collection ($38.90): MAC cosmetics is famous for their brushes, and this collection of five of their bestselling eye offerings doesn't disappoint. Featuring the 194SE, 204SE, 224SE, 266SE and 275SE brushes, this kit makes it easy to rock a smokey eye, blend out shadow, apply liner and create a variety of looks. Plus, the vinyl bag it comes in is absolutely adorable, and large enough to house other brushes in your collection.

Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Buffing Brushes Collection ($49): bareMinerals' creamy powder foundation is legendary for its complexion enhancing abilities, which are only made better by its amazingly soft, somewhat magical brushes. (The famous "swirl, tap, buff" commandment really does help the powder to blend into skin seamlessly.) This collection features a group of indispensible brushes, including the Handy Buki brush (excellent for precise, full coverage), the Tapered Blush Brush, Precision Liner Brush for eyeshadow and for creating dramatic looks, Wet/Dry Shadow Brush, Soft Focus Shadow Brush, and a pretty traveling case. A serious addition to any bareMinerals' fan's arsenal.
