New Year, New Tween 'Tudes About Beauty & Health!

If there's one thing I love, it's a photographic book promoting healthy, positive images of young women. Y'all probably already know that, as I fought for my book Body Drama to have pictures instead of illustrations, and I'm always so excited when something else visually stimulating comes on the market for the perfect demographic in need: tweens!

Marlene Wallach's new series of books is a great resource to help girls aged 7+ have a healthy perspective of themselves. The four titles just came out and are My Beauty, My Look, My Life, and My Self. Here's why these four books are great resources for the tween girl in your life: (click for more) They're beautiful! And I'm not just talking about the girls in them (though they're adorable, too)! The images in My Beauty, My Look, My Life, and My Self are stunning, stimulating, and encouraging for your tween to find a sense of self, not just regarding her exercise habits but also in terms of her fashion and style sense!

They're chock-full of information! There's lots of fun facts in My Beauty, My Look, My Life, and My Self that your tween will enjoy learning, like how to use just a jumprope for a full-body workout, and how to assemble a variety of healthy foods, like homemade trail mix! Also inside are meal planning worksheets as well as adorable style journals!

They offer a variety of perspectives! Marlene found tweens across the country coming from all backgrounds to share their strategies on issues like teasing, loneliness, and stress. And as an added bonus, at the end of each book there's a 'Just Ask Marlene' section where she explores a variety of common questions she gets from the thousands of teens she talks to each year as the President of Wilhelmina Kids and Teens, one of the world's most prestigious modeling agencies.

So if you're worried about whether or not 2010 is going to be a good year for your girl's self esteem, check out one or all of My Beauty, My Look, My Life, and My Self books and see if she they don't inspire her to be the best girl she can possibly be, inside and out!
