Joyce recommends: Mentha Organics Sheer Lip Tint |
$5
"Not a daily wearer of makeup, I just needed a product to give my appearance a little pop without having to spend too much time in front of the mirror. Therefore, a little lip gloss can go a long way and the C.O. Bigelow Mentha Organics Sheer Lip Tint does just that. The squeeze tube makes for easy application to glide on this refreshing gloss that is cool to the touch due to the natural peppermint oil, leaving behind a hint of color and fresh breath."
Karen recommends: Maybelline Color Sensational Gloss |
$5
"When I think of lip gloss, the words that come to mind are, fresh, vibrant and silky. However, it has not always been easy to find lip gloss with those attributes. Some lip glosses are very shiny, but they do nothing for keeping your lips feeling fresh and hydrated. No fear, Maybelline Shine Sensational Gloss is here! Yes, they have nailed it! Their Sensational glosses are fresh with flavors such as Peach Sorbet, Berry Bella and Cranberry Crave just to name a few. This gloss leaves your lips looking vibrant and feeling silky smooth."
Cathleen recommends: Smith's Rosebud Salve Lip Balm | $4.40
"Inside every make-up artist's bag is a small blue and white round tin as familiar as a cotton ball. Smith's Rosebud Salve is a general purpose topical salve that moisturizes, relieves roughness, eases skin irritation, promotes healing, and is used as a base before applying lipstick, gloss and eyeshadow. It also tames unruly eyebrows. The beauty multi-tasking possibilities are endless."
Wendy recommends: e.l.f. Hypershine Gloss | $1
"Although Eyes Lips Face cosmetics (e.l.f) is a great place to go if you're searching for any sort of beauty products while on a budget, their hypershine lip gloss is especially noteworthy. It's a modest $1 and is comparable to MAC's lip glass in both texture and appearance. Each of the 12 shades are infused with a cotton candy scent, which is a sweet bonus for your mouth. I prefer Fairy, a pale pink gloss that adds just enough color to my lips. A close second is Vixen, a luscious red that works like a stain and is perfect for evening."
Tiffany recommends: Wet n' Wild Wild Shine Lip Lacquer | $2.24
"This great lipstick offers long-lasting creamy coverage. It comes in nine shades that span the entire lipstick color spectrum. The lipstick finish is shiny and not matte for all nine shades. The tube of lipstick is conveniently slim and silver, fitting easily in your pocket or purse. You won't find such a professional quality lipstick for a cheaper price!"
Deidre recommends: Maybelline Expert Wear Quads |
$4.94
"I'm continually impressed with the quality of Maybelline's eye products. The Expert Wear eye shadow quads are no exception. Each quad comes with four different colors that are shaded on different areas of the eye to create a coordinated look. If you're worried about using four colors all at once, never fear! The package instructs exactly how to achieve the look you want, whether it be casual or dramatic, preventing even the most hopeless of us from application anarchy. If you're like me and like to mix things up, with so many colors per quad there is endless potential to do so."
BB recommends: Wet 'n' Wild H2O Proof Liquid Eyeliner |
$2.99
"Many women think that they have to spend a ton of money on makeup to look good. This is not necessarily the truth. I found a really wonderful and inexpensive makeup product at a local drugstore that I absolutely love. The makeup is a super liquid black eyeliner, Wet 'n' Wild H2O Proof Liquid Eyeliner. I bought it on a whim and I am glad I did. The color really stays on a long time. Even if you sweat heavily like I do. My makeup tip is don't be afraid to try the cheaper makeup lines. And I would recommend this makeup product to any woman looking for a long lasting eyeliner."
Katie recommends: Maybelline Great Lash Big Washable Mascara |
$4.99
"If there is one cosmetic necessity, it is mascara. And these days, every cosmetic company is offering a plethora of mascara brush claims: lash enhancers, length-doublers and even the ability to multiply your lash count. I've tried most of them and I've learned one important lesson. When overwhelmed, stick to the basics. Maybelline has continually provided one of the best mascaras around for decades. At just under $5.00 per tube, it's always on my list."
Lorna recommends: NYX Eyeshadow | $5
"Let's say you have only five dollars in your pocket to spend on some makeup to make you look great for the day or evening. What will you choose? If you need to get glam or go chic, eye shadow is the perfect choice! The eyes are the most versatile part of your face."
Catherine recommends: Ardell Brow Sculpting Gel | $3.49
"The Ardell Sculpting Gel For Brows is a must have to keep your brows looking neat and defined. The wand is easy to use and the gel is lightweight so it doesn't feel heavy on your brows. Since the gel is clear, it gives you a nice, natural and clean look."
Dana recommends: L.A. Colors Loose Powder |
$1.95
"If you are looking for a great loose powder foundation for under $5, then try L.A.COLORS loose powder. This powder can be applied on face after putting on liquid concealers, or bare. I use this makeup daily it does not make my skin break out, L.A. COLORS loose powder makes my face look flawless. This loose powder comes in a pretty big amount so you don't have to keep buying it all the time, because you wont run out of it fast."
Jessica recommends: Rimmel London Matte Foundation |
$5
"Makeup is a lot of girls best friend. We want to look pretty without looking over done. My one problem I always had was with choosing a foundation that gave me the coverage I need and didn't leave my face feeling cakey. I was shopping around on line for a foundation that would hopefully give me what I wanted. I came across Rimmel London Matte Foundation. I love the coverage and the feel of it.
Amara recommends: e.l.f. neutral kit |
$5
"My favorite products from E.L.F. are the "Get the Look" sets. At just $5, you can create a beautiful look in seconds. The kit includes Eye Shadow, Mascara, Eyeliner, Tweezers, and an Eye Shadow Brush. With everything in one place, you can create a shimmering eye without wondering what colors go well together!"
Daniella recommends: New York Color Classic EyeBrow, Eye & Lip Liner Pencil |
$1.60
"One of the best makeup deals around is the liner pencil offered by NYC. They are priced at less than $2.00 each. NYC pencils can be used on eyebrows, eyes and lips. They come in a wide variety of colors, making it is easy to match eyebrows, lipstick or lip gloss shades. The NYC liner pencil can be sharpened to a crisp point for fine lines, but the product is creamy and can be blended. It is soft enough to not hurt delicate skin when applied. For eyes, it holds up well, even through tears, as long as it is not wiped off. For lips, it will need to be reapplied occasionally after eating and drinking. The product can be removed easily with face cleaning products."
Kimberly recommends: Maybelline Express Finish Nail Polish |
$3.04
"Summer is here and it is time to show off those toes! My summer tip is Maybelline Express Finish Nail Enamel, or as I call it, 50 second polish! It is a must have for a girl on the go! I paint it on and less than a minute later can slip on my open toe sandals and run out the door. So forget those expensive pedicures, and do it yourself"

I don't know about direct sales from the maker or even from the stores, but you can find just about all these products on eBay. If you know what you're doing you canget many of these for what would be a huge sale price in the stores.

A few years ago I stopped at an upscale department store cosmetic counter that sold $25 lipstick. The salesperson admired the color on my lips and asked the brand. "Wet 'n' Wild -- and it cost 99 cents," I said. She looked taken aback, and it made my day. Actually, I've used many Wet 'n' Wild products over the years, and find them first rate.

Cheaper makeup is easy to find in the drug store and discount stores. BUT, it doesn't have as good "Lift" or wrinkle preventatives or Retail Dept. stores.
replyI believe those of you whom it works for aren't over 50. Mature skin is different and it does cake there. You get what you pay for. At 20 and 30, I didn't need the good stuff, but now I do. BESIDES, you can't return opened makeup to a drug store because the color wasn't right or it globbed in your "Lines." Department stores will take it back! I am a Lancome girl! --Merry

I disagree with you. I am 591/2 y/o and I use drugstore cosmetics and my complexion is clear and wrinkle free. I have been using Wet & Wild cosmetics for years and find them better than Department store brands. And, I know for a fact that Walgreen's will let you return opened/used makeup with your receipt. Just because makeup is purchased in a Dept. store does not make it better makeup, just more expensive. Also, if you take care of your skin in your younger years it will take care of you in your older years

CVS and RiteAid will both take back makeup purchased if you aren't happy with the product. Just keep your receipt. This is an easy way to try things you may not be sure about.

Rite Aid, CVS and Walgreen's let's you return anything with a receipt. I have used high end and low end.and in the middle. I love L'Oreals mineral makeup, it's better than any other I have ever tried including and especially Bare Minerals, Bare Essentuals, etc. I like Wet and Wild lipstick, Revlon color stay eye pencil. I use L'Oreal, Olay and Avon products for lines and lifting and they are great. I have great skin for any age. Don't be fooled by expensive Designer brands. Oh, I'm 58 years old.

I use a combination of high end and low end makeup. Eyeshadow and eyeliner are definitly worth the upgrade because you get more pigment in the eyeshadow so you use less and get more intense color. I love urban decay and mac, but for foundation I use maybelline. Mascara, though, you should always go drug-store because you're suppose to replace it every 2 months anyways because of bacteria build up and besides the formulas are practically the same and now you can get the more high-tech wands in drug store brands. I dont use lip products other than chapstick or rosebud lip salve so thats always drug store for me. Although, I would have to say if I had all the money I wanted, I probably would go high-end for everything but a mix is good for a budget.

The wet n wild is great , but if you want loreal or coverdirl and make up like that the dollar general stores sell them really cheap even the hyper allergentic kinds. But most of my make up is avon and since i sold it it was pretty cheap for me and all my customers I gave 20% off so that make up is not only good quality but a decent price!
