Backpacks for Preschoolers

Going to preschool for the first time is a big deal for most kids and parents. It's a first time away from home - and a first time to be a "big kid." Silly as it may sound, one of the biggest deals for us with preschool was the backpack. Both of boys showed tons of pride in their ability to carry their own backpack. They were so proud to show how responsible they could be carting their items (a lunch and their artwork) to a from their classrooms.

In fact, in our preschool they really encourage the kids to have a backpack - especially in the last year - as caring for their own items at that preschool level helps them get ready for Kindergarten.

Of course you don't want to start out with a big backpack as preschoolers are small! One of my favorite backpacks for preschoolers is from Skip Hop. They make these Skip Hop animal backpacks which are perfect for a small tots back in terms of size. My 3 year old currently carries the monkey and he adores it. You can select from a variety of backpacks, they price at $19.99 plus. They also have matching lunch boxes for children who stay through lunch. And the bags are BPA-Free.

I also love the Toddler Backpacks from Four Peas Online. Four Peas is a Mom-based company and their backpacks are simple but adorable designs. Each is $22.50.

And who could resist these quilted Personalized Toddler Backpacks from Porterhouse Crafts. For $22.95 plus $6.95 for the embroidery, you can select from a number of adorable designs for boys and girls.
