Trends for Men

A lot of attention is focused on trends for women. whenever you see fashion trends lists, the majority of the list (if not the entire list) is geared towards the ladies with just a few items for the fellas. Trends for men happen a little slower than for women, but each season there are definite trends that fashion forward guys can take advantage of. I personally love to see a well dressed man, and perhaps that is why when I first met my husband I took him under my fashion wing and showed him the ropes. While it is probably easier for man to throw on his favorite jersey or jeans there is something to be said when a man looks well pulled together in the latest trends for men.

Here are some trends for men this fall. What are your favorite trends? Leave a comment below or tell us on Facebook.

Trends for Men: Suits

Suits have never really gone out of style, but fall brings lots of different suit options for men. From double breasted to three piece, there is a suit that will look like nice on every physique. If you already own a suit, now may be a good time to update it or to take it to the tailor to make sure that it fits properly. Men's suits are not exactly like fine wine, they may not necessarily get better with time. An outdated, poorly fitting suit is worse than not having a suit at all. Take advantage of the resurgence of men's suiting and invest in new dress shirts, ties, cuff links and shoes. Men's suits can be worn a variety of ways. If you prefer a more casual look, wear your suit without a tie; if you want to stand out at a more formal affair, pair your suit with a bow tie to look even more dashing.

Trends for Men: Velvet
Makes you say hmmm, right? Velvet is certainly one of the more bold fall trends for men. It definitely takes a secure man to wear velvet. While I am not recommending that anyone other than P.Diddy or David Beckham wear a full velvet suit, wearing a velvet blazer or a sports coat with velvet lapels could give you several fashion points with trendsetters. With this trend, proceed with caution.

Trends for Men: Designer Denim

Jeans are the new chinos. Designer jeans can be worn with anything and everything. With a lot of men having the opportunity to dress smart casual for work, designer denim is the perfect choice. Denim brands like 7 For All Mankind, Hudson and True Religion all make jeans that are popular with women, and their men's denim is just as popular and stylish. If you are a man, take inventory of the jeans in your wardrobe. Similar, to suits, you want to make sure that your jeans fit properly and are not outdated. From relaxed fit to boot cut, to even more fitted skinny jeans, there are jean options for even the most discerning man.

Trends for Men: Scarves
Men don't have to don man purses to wear accessories. Scarves can pull together a whole outfit and make any man look like a trendsetter. Of course scarves are essential in colder climates but a nice cashmere scarf can be worn with a sports coat, or sweater and will evoke an air of style regardless of the weather.

Trends for Men: Cardigan Sweaters

If you think that only ladies wear cardigan sweaters, think again. Men's cardigan sweaters are a cool trend for fall. If this trend is one that you would like to pull off, try wear an understated cardigan. Button down cardigans have a reputation for being a little grand daddyish, but if worn the right way they can look sophisticated. When choosing yours, don't forget to consider when you'll wear it most. You can wear a heavyweight cardigan on the weekend with corduroys and loafers, or you can wear a fine gauge cardigan layered with a dress shirt during the week with slacks.

Trends for Men: Hats
One item that comes in a number of different styles and has become very much in style for men is the hat. Fedora and newsboy hats, and Kangol caps are a big trend for men. Hats come in a variety of fabrics and styles like textured tweeds, dashing plaids and pinstriped patterns. Hats can be worn by men from all walks of life, just make sure to find one that works well with your head shape.
