Cozy Up to Blanket Sweaters

trouve blanket sweater

Ahhh...doesn't the very sound of a blanket sweater make you want to curl up by the fireplace with a mug of something sickly sweet and a pile of guilty-pleasure magazines? At the very least, it might make you daydream about a colder day in the not-too-distant future, when you'd be absolutely crazy not to show off one of these comfy, plush and ultra-warm toppers.

Not just cozy, they also minimize wide hips and thighs and hide a full belly (you know, the one you'll likely stuff to capacity during the holidays). For that reason alone, they're perfect to wear to family dinners and casual get-togethers. Check out our favorites, at all price points:

A chunky texture is absolutely essential if you want a sweater that does more than just look stylish. This Trouve Blanket Cardigan ($88) is a great choice for that very reason - it's cozy, cozy, cozy, with a touchable, nubby texture. The tonal waist-tie provides simple contrast to the neutral striped pattern. Try it with jeans and boots - or take it to the office and slip it on while at your desk.

Immaculate camel color? Check. Comfy wool-mohair blend? Check. Chunky and thick? Check and check. With all the boxes ticked, it seems this Twelfth Street By Cynthia Vincent Anatoli Blanket Sweater ($495) is something of a no brainer. If you really love the look and feel of the luxurious blanket sweater, consider this - it's an investment piece that you'll love and wear for years.

Feel "free" to get creative with this Free People We the Free Navajo Cardigan ($168). It's the epitome of cozy comfort, from its blankety-soft wool blend (non-itchy, natch) to its long, lean silhouette. Throw it on over skinny jeans, try a skinny belt at the waist or go for ultimate on-trend-for-fall status and pair it with cords.

You'll be singing the good kind of blues with this Calvin Klein Jeans Belted Blanket Sweater ($109.50) slipped over your everyday basics. The cool hue is warmed up with a touch of navy, and it's even updated with a skinny faux leather belt and an asymmetrical hem for a fresh, unexpected look. This is the perfect piece to shake up your basic jeans and tees, and it serves as the perfect alternative to a light coat on a brisk day.
