Are you kidding me? This is the problem with the economy. People feeling pressured to buy high-end, frivolous items for one day, a day that's supposed to be religious in nature but who are we kidding, is nothing more than a consumer frenzy of spending. A cashemere robe? Black diamonds? People break the cycle! Go back to the simple! The homemade!

@ Emma....I agree! I do make some homemade gifts most years, but this year I am making almost all...makes for busy hands....late nights. I am sewing fleece robes (sons have outgrown old ones plus ruffled fleece flounce for 2 pre-teen girls); fleece hat, scarf & mitten sets. And if I have time a self-designed lighted honey-onyx tile sideboard or baker's rack.

Obviously you are living on a very different planet that most people are living on. Have you not followed what is happening in our economy. A visit to a soup kitchen should definitely be in your plans in the future.

Giving gifts gives great pleasure but when you spend beyond what you can afford,it's just no fun. Being together with family and sharing life is really what it's all about - not trying to pretend you have $ when you don't. Let's get back to the simple joys of life. Let's see more affordable choices out there!! Please???

I don't think all of these are too expensive and I also think they are quite nice. There are a few things I would want and my husband also wants the gifts that are on the teenager list. LOL

I agree with all these comments, the kids toys im very impressed with i'd swing that for them.
replyBut please do not expect me to spend more than triple their cosy for a adult (25-30$) especially.. when I have 5 sibelings and 17 nephews and neices!
Guys:
Try razors, he's been using the same kind for years and hasn't tested the new brands/styles, several different kinds with a nice little gel is a great gift for any guy young or old (trust me, they use them eventually).
Oh and guess what? they still love goodies, snacks and candies!
Women:
Durp,

I think that the ideas for gift giving is great. After all they are only suggestions with a wide selection of prices. I found it very helpful since I have Grandchildren from 13 to 31 and Great-grandchildren from 1 to 15. I usually give my four Daughters cash because all their tastes are different. Thank you for your help.

Hmmm...........my wish list is easy. Just good health and happiness. Well, maybe a bauble or two. Oh, and maybe some good perfume like Boucheron. I hate to be greedy though .........I like giving better than receiving. I like to watch others get joy from presents. The iron man toy is reasonable.........I may buy that for my 6 year old nephew. I agree with the ones that says not to spend more than what you can afford.
