Having more functionality than regular cell phones, smartphones give you access to the Internet, receive emails, work with document attachments, sync data with computers, play music, watch videos, and much more. If you're looking for your first smartphone, here are some of the best smartphones that came out in 2010.

You can't talk about the best smartphones without mentioning one of the Android phones, like the
HTC Droid Incredible Smartphone for Verizon Wireless. The Android 2.2 operating system lets you download and use thousands of applications and widgets, giving you your own customized smartphone that will do whatever you want it to do. One of this reasons this phone is one of the best smartphones is it's loaded with features like an advanced 8 megapixel camera and video camera with special effects that let you edit images on the phone, a superfast 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, an 8 GB internal flash memory, and an intergrated GPS that can work with VZ Navigator, Google Maps, and Geo-Tagging. The HTC Sense program organizes all of your messages - from emails, texts, tweets, and Facebook messages. You'll have a 3.7-inch high-definition display with a full virtual QWERTY keyboard, and with all the application choices, you can keep up with NFL scores, check the weather, and surf the web on a browser that supports Adobe Flash 10.1.

Many would say the leader in the best smartphones is the
Apple iPhone 4 32 Smartphone for AT&T, and they may be right as this phone can do just about anything you would want to do on a mobile gadget. The newest features of this version of the iPhone include FaceTime, which lets you use your phone as a web cam to have face-to-face conversations with friends, family, and business associates, a Retina display that is the sharpest, most vibrant, highest resolution phone screen ever, a 5 megapixel camera with an LED flash, and HD video recording and editing. You'll also be able to run and switch between your favorite applications without draining the battery with the Multitasking feature. And, all of these features are on top of what the iPhone can already do - games, phone, email, iPod, web browser, GPS, and more.

Personally, I believe the best smartphones are BlackBerry smartphones, and my favorite of the Blackberry phones is the
BlackBerry Torch Smartphone for AT&T. What makes me want this phone so badly is it combines the full touch screen function of the BlackBerry Storm with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard like a BlackBerry Bold. I've been hesitant to try a touch screen smartphone, mostly because I love the BlackBerry QWERTY keyboard so much, and I don't really like its virtual version on the Storm. However, the BlackBerry Torch gives the best of both worlds. The first BlackBerry smartphone to provide a full HTML browser with pinch-to-zoom and tabbed browsing, the BlackBerry Torch can multitask between applications - even while you're on a phone call. Of course, you can also receive email, access social networks like FaceBook, take pictures and videos, and listen to music on this smartphone.

Another Android to include in the best smartphones of the year, the
HTC myTouch 4G Smartphone for T-Mobile has a video feature that allows you to chat face-to-face with your contacts who have a compatible phone, PC, Mac, or tablet. Another cool feature on this smartphone, the Genius button lets you call, text, send emails, search the web, and more with a single voice command. You can also wirelessly share videos and photos to a compatible HDTV. These functions, along with all of the other Android operating system's bells and whistles, make the myTouch 4G one of the best smartphones of the year.
