The average person spends about $100 on traditional
Valentine's Day gifts – whether presents for our sweeties or red and pink clothing for ourselves! If you're wondering where this extra cash for Cupid's day is going to come from this year, look no further! AOL is providing a $150 American Express gift card to help you
shop for your sweetheart this Valentine's Day! While you're at it, why not use the excess to do a little spending on yourself, or, if you're single this season, blow the entire gift card on something that makes YOU happy!
Keeping true to the fact that this is a health blog, and while I love my husband dearly, the importance of loving oneself cannot be ignored for one's mental and physical health. My new book
DIET DRAMA is the first-ever health and fitness book for young women to begin with body image for this reason – a third of the entire book is devoted to helping readers to love your body first and foremost, so that we can feed and move our bodies in the best way possible, without feeling tons of shame and embarrassment about ourselves! More on
DIET DRAMA is available
here!
So this
Valentine's Day, in the spirit of health, wellness, and happiness,
splurge on both your sweetie and yourself. Think about that New Year's resolution you've been putting off and dust it off so that work towards it and a better you – whether you win
DIET DRAMA and the $150 American Express gift card or not!
To enter my sweepstakes, tell me in the comments how you'd use the $150 American Express gift card and/or DIET DRAMA to love both yourself and others.
Each submission will result in one (1) entry. You can enter the Sweepstakes once, and only before 12AM EST, February 6th. The use of any agencies or automated software to submit entries will void all entries submitted by that person. The winner will be chosen randomly at noon on February 6th to give you plenty of time to shop and spend on great Valentine's Day gifts!
Happy commenting and
Valentine's Day shopping!

I would use it to take my husband on a spa date. He lost his job (the only one in our house) a couple weeks before Christmas and we have been waiting on unemployment for 8 weeks now. Before losing his job he worked 12 hour shifts and really deserved to be pampered but with 3 kids we didn't have a way to do that. As for the book I would use that to get healthy myself so I can be my best for him and our children.

I would buy copies of Diet Drama for my friends who need a little boost of self-esteem, and I'd treat myself to some new sneakers so I can continue treating my body right at the gym each day!

I would have a party and smother my friends (single or involved) in Valentine's Day goodness! You have to share the love and parties are a great way to do it. As for the book, I'd give that to my sister who will be going to college soon and the freshmen 15 are no joke. Here's a snippet of my review of Diet Drama for Girls Gone Green: Diet Drama is the only book I've ever read with the word "diet" in the title, and honestly will probably be the only one because I don't feel I need another one. I think what I enjoyed the most was that the book is focused on loving your body, moving your body, and feeding your body which are three important and at times very difficult things to do.

I would make my sister's baby shower an even more joyous event with an extra $150 :)

If I were to win the $150 I would use that money to add to my husbands exercise room that he has started in our basement. With the book I could join him in his workout routine. That would give us a chance to spend quality time together as well as improve our health.

I would use the money to help me, my boyfriend, and my best friend to get in shape. We have all been very close, but we each worry about each other's health. With the money and "Diet Drama" we would support each other throughout our trials and errors and make sure to keep our spirits up using the "Diet Drama" techniques and trades. I would somehow split up the money between us three so that we could buy a few (cheaper) small things that could make a HUGE difference in our eating/exercise routines, like yoga mats, health help dvds, maybe a few dumbells, nutrition information, a little "what i ate today" book to keep track of good and bad eating habits, etc. :)

I recently started working out since my knee surgery last Summer and realized that I don't own a single pair of sweat pants so I would use part of the money to buy much needed workout gear (sneakers too). The rest, I'd spend treating my toddler to his favorite day... ice skating followed by dinner at chuck-e-cheese.

I would use the AmEx gift card to stock up my supply of herbs and natural foods (I've gotten really into them lately!) to make delicious treats! Then I'll probably use the rest for dance classes; I've always wanted to learn how to tap. And I'll be so happy to own Diet Drama; I just finished your Body Drama book, and all I can say is THANK YOU!!! I'm 23 and FINALLY got an answer to an "embarrassing question" I've had about myself for years. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

i would use the card to buy a nice bday present for my daughter, she really wants a s2h watch, which rewards you for physical activity. i would also use it to replace some not so healthy cupboard staples with better options..like swapping out my whites for browns..rice, bread, etc.it can be expensive to make better choices at the grocery store, this would realy be a great start!
replythank you!!

I would put the gift card toward gym membership fees so I can work on getting back into shape, and hopefully the book will remind me to concentrate on being healthy rather than skinny!
