Trend Report: Crochet

Back again with yet another round of surprisingly chic looks is the crochet trend. It proved itself quite boldly last year, and its popularity shows no signs of waning this spring. In fact, the updated looks are even more wearable than before.

From tops to dresses to even shorts (yes, seriously), vintage-inspired crochet appears on just about everything and adds a special touch to basic springtime ensembles. Here are some crocheted clothes and accessories we're loving:

Just a touch of crochet is all it takes to transform simple into swoon-worthy. This WallpapHer vest ($30) is a cheap find, sure, but it's also pure sophistication. The floral handiwork is absolutely sublime, and so, too, is the soft rose hue. Throw it on over a tank or dress for a unique finish.

Despite the trend factor, there is truly nothing more classic than a crocheted white dress. This one by Suzi Chin Maggy Boutique ($138) exudes a feel that is at once cool and romantic. Dress it up or down - it's one of those must-haves you'll thank us for later.

Something about these comfy looking Monrow shorts ($98) just screams "summer"! We're in love with the shockingly chic crochet work, which lends an otherwise plain pair of shorts a resoundingly elegant vibe. You'll be so impressed by the detail on these.

To call this an investment piece would be an understatement, but if you're truly smitten by crochet and can't foresee a future without it, you may want to take a peek at this Alice by Temperley Fabienne lace top ($395). The beautifully crafted ribbon and crochet mesh overlay gives it an almost angelic grace. It dresses up jeans in an instant!

Not sure crocheted clothes are for you? Work the trend with an accessory instead, like this Aldo Araucaria clutch ($40). The fabric takes on a cozy crocheted effect that looks right at home with the wooden frame.

An absolute must for cinching your tops and giving shift dresses a fresh silhouette, this earthy Mixit belt ($17.99) is wildly inventive, pairing a primarily crocheted band with a faux leather double buckle.

Wearing a piece of crocheted jewelry feels artsy and modern, and it's also a great way for those less inclined to play with crochet to do so in a simple, understated way. These Oomm Boutique Lady in Red earrings ($29.99) are handmade in bright thread for a shot of color.

Boho chic all the way, these MIA Petal wedges ($79.95) are an affordable indulgence that you'll wear time and time again through the season. Wedges are all over the place right now - but these stand out thanks to their entirely crocheted upper. Cute!

"Granny hobby"???? I guess the author of this article has been asleep for the past 15-20 years or so or is just an airhead. That's how long younger people have been into crochet---and knitting.
