Best Things to Buy in June

It's hard to believe that June signifies the middle of the year, but time flies and there's no slowing it down. Instead, relish in the sun's toasty rays, the scent of fresh grass, chargrilled, home-cooked burgers and plenty of hot, lazy days dedicated to splashing around in cool water. Like last month, you'll likely spend a lot of time enjoying what Mother Nature has to offer. Naturally, the best things to buy in June center around the warm air and great outdoors.

Sounds strange, but workout gear tends to go on sale around this time of the year. After the New Year, when we all make our pledge to burn calories and eat less fast food, prices on gym memberships and gym equipment soar. Fast forward 5 to 6 months and people have nearly lost all interest. For those who are still intent on getting in shape -- or maintaining that smokin' figure -- pounce on the manufacturer's desperate-to-sell prices.

Keep your toes cool with a fabulous pair or two -- or three! -- of stunning summer shoes. The 2011 summer season has kitten heels and brass-studded clogs at the top of its trend list. Easy-to-pair flat sandals and ultra casual flip-flops are also a summer shoe must. You'll find the hottest prices online and at major shoe department stores.

There are a few reasons why buying tool in June is a good idea. First and most obviously, Father's Day is in June. This special day prompts a plethora of tool-related sales at super stores, home improvement stores and even online. Another reason tools go on sale in the month of June is because it's finally warmed up enough to do some fixin' up around the house. So, whether you're purchasing tools for the father(s) in your life or want to snag a few for your own good, the light is green.

From sunscreen that prevents burning to Aloe Vera gels that soothes sunburnt skin, you'll find a heap of sun care products to choose from this time of year. In June you'll also notice an uptick in the amount of bug repellants available. Lots of stores have specials on such products, as do the companies that make them. Pair an online or newspaper insert coupon with a fabulous price for a super hot deal. For more information on what sunscreen products are top notch, check out our 2011 sunscreen buying guide.

Because of its balmy weather and low chance of rain, June is one of the most popular months to tie the knot. As a result, thousands are buying serving items like plates, silverware and linens per newlyweds' gift registry requests. Even if you're not getting married and don't know anyone who is, now is the time to buy that serving ware you've been meaning to replace.

You don't have to be a teen or twenty-something to sport a flirty headband. And the fashionable summer do is more than just a pretty decoration atop your head -- it also serves a utilitarian purpose. It keeps hair out of your eyes, which both cools you down and prevents soggy bangs from sticking to your forehead. If you're a simple lass, go with something streamlined and reserved. If you like to channel your inner Lady GaGa, opt for a headband with a dash of spunk.

Luggage
Beginning in late May, families set off for grand summer vacations since their kiddos are now off school. As a result, suitcases and other travel-related goods are in high demand and company's have a hard time keeping shelves stocked. With high demand and not enough supply, you'll be hard pressed to find a good deal. If you're in a bind and need the luggage stat, check out our luggage sets under $125.

Airfare
Like luggage, airfare is high in demand and lower in availability throughout June and the rest of summer. You'll find ticket prices are higher than normal. If you need to tickets for the summer months anyway, buy at the high price and remember to buy in advance for next year. If you've got to shop for tickets, don't bypass AOL Travel!

Toys
At a time when parents are desperate to entertain their children post-school year, you'll find that the toy market is a more expensive one. If possible, hold off until mid-Autumn when companies try to clear stock for the Christmas season. If you must need some new items for your tots, here's a toy deal you may like: 30% off Mega Bloks Toys.

    Ms. Wendy,

No doubt everything you have to say to those starved of Sun and Heat rings true, but for quite a bit of our Country, this is the time to hide Indoors to avoid broiling and disemboiling our neighbors.

Just a reminder that not everyone looks forward to the Summer. Personally, I enter a funk bordering on "Postal" when the temps start rising above (a Max) of 70F.
