A Tank Dress to Wear Wherever

Tank dresses are one of my favorite pieces for those dog days of summer. They're simple to throw on and they're lightweight and breathable enough to ensure that you won't overheat under the barking-hot sun. Tank dresses are also pretty darn versatile. You can wear the same tank dress with flip flops as with your bedazzled pumps. It just depends on how you dress it up. And, that's the other lovable thing about tank dresses: they're pretty plain. That means you get to have a little fun with layering on the accessories in a way that suits your mood for the day or suits the occasion for your next calendar event.

During the day, go bold with tank dresses in bright colors this summer. Solid or colorblocked citrus hues and jewel tones are big hits. The more simple the design of your tank dress, the more fun you can have layering on the colors, patterns and textures over top. Here's a sunny day look that you could easily wear out to walk the dog, to go shopping, to grab lunch or to rendezvous with a friend. It's a laid-back look that will still get you noticed.

Looking to dress up a bit for your midsummer's night plans? Opt for a tank dress made of a more luxurious material or one that's adorned with unique details. This one is glittering in sequins and paired with metallic accents that hail to the tribal trend that fashionistas are feverish for right now. The neutral shoe grounds the look and the unconventional black blazer cuts down on the outfit's shine without taking away from the glamorous-edgy vibe.

Now, how about a tank dress you can comfortably and confidently wear to work? Totally doable. Life's not just about daytime frolic and nighttime play, there's work to be done, too! And, with all the hours we put into work, we need a wardrobe staple that can work both inside and outside of the office. A tank dress can easily be made to look professional and chic without sacrificing all the comfort. Here's a classy nod to nautical -- you've got the red stripes coupled with a flattering wrap-waist blue blazer. The scarf and bag help to elevate the look, while the bangles and nude vintage heels serve to charm.
