What to Wear to Work by Personality

We're all familiar with the bustling morning rush that ensues the minute you wake up. And no, we're not just talking about detestable rush hour traffic. From the second you hop out of bed after pushing the snoozer a few times -- it's okay, we all do it -- it's a mad dash to get things done before you shimmy out the front door.

You've got to shower, brush your teeth, make breakfast -- even if it is just washing an apple or dropping toast into the toaster -- get the kids ready, dry your hair, brush your hair, feed the dog, etc., etc., etc. All this, of course, comes before you even have a moment to think about what you're wearing to work for the day.

Though we can't wave a magic wand to -- POOF! -- make the morning rush disappear, we can help you with one thing: your fashion choices for the work day. Having a confident understanding of your fashion personality, and laying your ensemble out the night before, can shave loads of time off the frustrating minutes you spend fussing in the closet over what's most flattering to your form and what represents you the best.

Today, we're influenced by some of TNT's working women -- Rizzoli and Isles. Each are poised femmes who have their own distinct style personality. Get inspired by their individual on-the-job looks or the other three style personalities we've highlighted below.

Tomboy/Sporty

Detective Jane Rizzoli, played by the stunning Angie Harmon, embodies all the characteristics of a sporty, self-assured woman: feisty, confident, outspoken. Her clothes express those same traits and are, in addition, comfortable. On a typical, non-working day, you can find Rizzoli in a laid-back ensemble that's both stylish and relaxed. Her work clothes are similar, but are more polished and professional.

The look: Keep things simple with a classic, crisp white t-shirt and well-fitted trouser. We know the tomboy isn't fond of lots of jewelry, so bring your outfit together with the essentials -- a pair of boots, a belt and sunglasses.

Trendy/Fashionable

Sasha Alexander's character, Maura Isles, is the quintessential trendy working woman. She enjoys fashion and is inspired by the catwalk, but she only wears what she knows looks good on her. After all, being trendy involves a certain ability to pick and choose the season's trends without going overboard.

The look: Stand out in a trendy pop of color, like blue or crimson red. To make things more work appropriate, pair your dress with a fitted blazer in a neutral hue and accent with metal bangles, a geometric necklace and suede pumps.

Classic/Timeless

The look: Nothing says timeless or classic like a fitted pencil skirt. Pair yours with a closed-toe pump in a contrasting hue, an embellished tank and an oversized bag that'll hold all your work essentials. Finish your ensemble off with a pretty pair of refined dangly earrings. If your office doesn't allow sleeveless ensembles, pair your outfit with a fitted cardigan or jacket.

Flirty/Romantic

When you think of someone with a flirty or romantic style, you think of frills and bubblegum and all-things sweet. You can carry that same vibe into your work wardrobe easily, just hold back on some of that sugar to keep your ensemble office-appropriate.

The look: We love the look of a white, fitted capris trouser paired with a pink ruffled top. Add a pair of feather earrings, a sweet pair of gold sandals and a large tote in a contrasting neutral hue.
