A good, comfortable pair of underwear is really the foundation to any wardrobe. Whether you dress conservatively, like to push the fashion envelope or are a "comfort is key" kind of woman it is crucial that your underwear be flattering, fit well and above all else, be comfortable.
If you have been unfortunate enough to experience an ill-fitting pair of undies you already know what a pain in the butt they can be. Visible panty lines, chaffing, and poor construction can all add to panty discomfort.
We asked around to a lot of different women what their most comfortable underwear are. From thongs to bikinis to boy shorts to everything in between, before you put on another pair of panties, check out our list of the most comfortable underwear. Victoria's Secret The Lacie Thong
$11.50
"Feeling sexy in a thong can be as difficult as feeling tall in a crowd full of NBA players. They can pinch and manage to create muffin top even when you don't even have it! As a woman with some curves, I love "The Lacie" thong. No seams, no lines and even more amazing - no size. This little number is one size fits all. The lace has enough stretch to hug any curves, regardless of size, without losing shape."
-Carissa, 32, New Jersey
Cosabella - Aire Lowrider Hotpants
$21.60
"My most comfortable pair of underwear is definitely Cosabella- Aire Lowrider Hotpants! Its genius design is seamless, so I can wear it with my silk dress and I don't show any lines! I can also pair it comfortably with jeans. I love Cosabella underwear so much that I own it in three colors!"
-Melanie, 26, Ohio
Victoria's Secret Hiphugger
$11.50
"For me, the true test of a comfortable pair of underwear is in the lack of marks left behind on my skin. These Hiphugger panties satisfy that and more. The smooth fabric with full back coverage gives me the confidence that it will not shift throughout the day including a workout at the gym, without making me feel like a sausage in them."
-Joyce, 36, California
Natori Sheer Stripe French Cut Bikini
$18
"My most comfortable underwear is Natori Sheer Stripe French Cut Bikini. The bikini style underwear sits right on the hip with elastic trim at all edges. The underwear stays put no matter what I am doing. The strip design looks sharp as I firmly believe that underwear should be comfortable, look great and make me feel sexy, no matter what I am wearing over the underwear."
-Elizabeth, 30, Massachusetts
Hanes Stretch Bikini
$13.50
"The simple yet super-cute Hanes Stretch Bikini is the softest, most comfortable underwear I've ever worn. It's sturdy and well fitted: no ride-ups or slip-downs. But the Bikini Pantie is also gentle and flexible enough to smoothly get me through a busy day. This underwear makes me feel so good--no one knows why I'm smiling brighter, walking a bit taller, or speaking more positively than usual. They say beauty comes from within, and it's definitely true in this case!"
-Mary, 22, California
Patagonia Active Brief
$20
"I like underwear that moves with me, not underwear that rides up on me. The Patagonia Active Brief is the underwear for me. The stretch fabric and full seat coverage give me all-day comfort, keeping me cool and dry on those really, hot days."
-Michele, 45, Missouri
Craft-ProCOOL Boxer
$30
"I love doing Hot Yoga, what I don't love is the sweat drenched clingy underwear I get during and after a session; the solution, the Craft-ProCOOL Boxer With Mesh. These comfortable underwear are lightweight, provide maximum ventilation, and most important, keep me dry and cool during my most intense sessions."
-Stephanie, 27, California
Elle Macpherson Intimates Secret Song Thong
$26
"My most comfortable pair of underwear is my Elle Macpherson Intimates Secret Song Thong. Made from a blend of rayon, cotton and polyester, they have good support and bend as you bend. The low cut look is flattering and the delicate little bow on the front adds just a touch of class."
-Diane, 46, California
Soma Hipsters
$4.98
"Soma Intimates has a really nice line of lingerie that fits comfort and style for a variety of ages and body types. My favorite for comfort are their seamfree Hipsters. They have a Nylon/Spandex blend that allows for breathability and comfort. They are so light, comfortable, and seamless you won't even know you are wearing anything, and no one else will either!"
-Abby, 23, Florida
Maidenform Smooth Thong
$10
"I came across the Maidenform Smooth Thong and have been so happy the purchase! The thongs consist of a very soft material, fit very well throughout the hip area, are very lightweight and make me feel classy yet bit sexy! I would recommend them to anyone who enjoys a good thong with affordability!
-SLR
Victoria's Secret Cheeky Panty
$11.50
"Victoria's Secret has the most comfortable minimal coverage underwear in the Lace-Trim Cheeky Panty. The fabric is soft, stretchy, and moves well with your body. The minimal coverage is great for making you feel sexy yet has enough fabric to feel more conservative than a thong"
-Erin
Eberjey Marlowe Shortie
$35
"I feel feminine, fabulous, and flirty in my Eberjey Marlowe Shortie underwear! No longer do I have to deal with thin thongs and underwear that rides up in order to look fantastic! This is definitely the most comfortable pair of underwear I own!"
-April, 37, Indiana
Fruit of the Loom Cotton Briefs
$6.99
"I admit it; this gal's style is cheap and comfortable, which is why I love my 6-pack Fruit of the Loom cotton briefs. With comfortably wide waist elastic and covered leg openings there's no pinching or pulling. Also, love the cottony feel and assortment of colors and prints at affordable price."
-Nancy, 57, Ohio
Hanky Panky French Bikini
$29
"The most comfortable underwear I own is the Hanky Panky "Cotton With A Conscience" French Bikini, available for $29 from Bloomingdales.com. These velvet soft cotton underwear have a lot of stretch to conform to your body. The lacy waistband is thin, great under clothing, as it shows no panty line, and does not feel binding on your hips."
-Susan, 34, Nevada
Calvin Klein Sugar and Spice Thong
$17
"The most comfortable underwear I've ever worn is Calvin Klein's "ck one" cotton sugar and spice thong. They fit like a second skin, so you hardly even know they're there- plus, they make you feel super sexy! Once I tried these undies, I was hooked. I'll never wear any other brand again."
-Stacy, 27, California
Hanky Panky Wearing A Whisper Thong
$23
By far the most comfortable underwear I have ever worn is the Hanky Panky Wearing-A-Whisper thong. The stretchy wide waistband stays put right around my hips and I never have to worry about visible panty lines.
-Sylvie, 41, Ohio
Calvin Klein Seamless Bikini
$12
"My most comfortable pair of underwear is the black seamless bikini by Calvin Klein. Graced with a gentle elastic waistband and a soft lace trim at the legs, this stylish bikini offers the perfect fit underneath the little black dress or snug fitting trousers by accentuating the female silhouette."

Most of the women I know have quit wearing panties altogether. The only time they wear them is when they go to the doctor.

Ew. What women are you hanging around? And why would they tell you they wear no underwear? Sounds like THOSE kinds of girls to me.

Sorry - Jockey's are better than those mentioned above. Really, thongs as comfortable --I don't think so, Sexy yes, but not comfortable

I was thinking the exact same thing. Most of the undies on this page are thongs and I was like "what?!? How in the world are thongs comfortable?" Only to those who are used to having something up their butts I guess...

I agree with you. The only kind of undies I buy is Jockey and have been a very loyal customer since I was in my tens and I a now in my upper 40's

I used to wear regular underwear, but I found that it didn't matter what kind of underwear I wore--french bikini, granny, boy shorts--no matter what it was, it was going to end up riding up my butt. When I tried thongs, I realized, yes, they obviously end up there too, but all the sudden I have half an inch there instead of several inches. As long as you don't get them too small, you don't even notice them. Now I can't wear anything else; whenever I do it's like somebody just shoved a whole pair up my butt. No thanks. Thongs are definitely the way to go!

I posted that I agree with you, Jockey all the way, loyal since a teenager and now in my upper 440's.
I've yet to try thongs, because of my weight, but I've lost 100 pounds, and a friend told me once you get used to them you don't even notice them. Actually, I've had a lot of friends tell me that, so, given the fact that I've lost all this weight, I may now try a pair, plus I have the most AWESOME BOYFRIEND YOU COULD EVER HAVE!!!!!! So, now is the time to try something new. It'll still be JOCKEY but just something way more sexy.

well i used to love VS cotton high cut briefs-but they added this stupid picot trim and now i hate them! I absolutely need cotton for breathability (I dont know about you, but i do not enjoy yeast infections), and i also want full coverage, AND i love fun patterns and colors....but that seems impossible to find now!

Typical. Not one photo shows a full-figured woman. Don't they wear panties, too? Did no one ask them for their opinions?
