I love Spanx. I love to see that they are 3 of 6 that are "modeled". I hate seeing that 2 of those models aren't "real" women that wear them. Get a picture of a real woman and not a runway model.

I've been looking for something to hold in my lower abdomen esp on my right side. I had a hernia repair after having appendicitis many years ago. The muscle pooches out on one side.

Some items I have found elsewhere are just not enough to hold anything in the fabric is like those of pantyhose.

The "Shapewear" I've tried in the past is constricting and too hot for someone going thru menopause. I read where one of those above is not a constricting fabric but is it a breathable one?

Yeah, but they show this stuff on skinny models who probably don't have an ounce of anything to "contain." When you've got fat it has to go somewhere and it usually pops out above or below the garment in the form of various types of muffin tops.

The models wearing those things don't even need it! They probably never had kids or surgeries and don't have any reason to wear those hot, clingy spandex body smoothers! I gave up trying to be smooth years ago! I'd rather just be comfortable and I'm with the menopause comment, those things are hot and when you break out in a sweat at any given time, you sure don't need anything like that stuck to your body! UGH Oh and 25 bucks for ONE pair of undies? GET REAL!

Of course you don't see any fat -- the women modeling them don't have any. Put them on real women and see the difference!!!!!

I dont like spanx . Its nothing new its just a stupid girdle !
I wear nyknyc shorts - they hold you in like spanx but
they really make your body better- they actually do make you firmer and more toned as you walk in them because they are fitted with undetectable weights to tone up backside and legs.

Yes spanx is just a girdle I agree .
I also prefer the NYK shorts . They really toned and firmed up my legs and butt- they look nice on and they actually improve my body which spanx do not do
the spanx is just a tempory fix where you are hiding your flab the nyk shorts really made my body fantastic.

somebody said somethin is too hot to wear cause she is in menopause???
Hey you are going to sweat anyhow so what you wear is not going to make you cool , unless you wear a refridgerator! so what sweat is great for your skin and it makes you clean by removing all toxins and making you really healthy get over yourself meno lady and stop acting like such a baby

Someone in this country needs to teach 90% of the American women how to PROPERLY dress, heaven knows they haven't done so in YEARS! Once women in the 60s started burning their bras, it's been downhill ever since. (Yes, pun intended!) Women think they liberated themselves by getting rid of the bra and the girdle but all they did was make themselves fat and frumpy. Want a failsafe diet technique? - wear a girdle or what they call today, a spanx. It is IMPOSSIBLE, and I mean that, to make a pig of yourself or overeat while wearing proper fitting shapewear undergarments. I had older relatives, great aunts and the like that NEVER, EVER, went in public without a girdle on. My one great-aunt, who would remind you of Jackie Kennedy, would even wear one under dress shorts (the only kind she wore). Women knew what slips were AND HOSE or STOCKINGS!!! Heaven help us now. I don't know the IDIOT that started the trend of no hose, but I could literally shoot them. What's crazy is even in the dead of winter. Just how STUPID are American women today? I keep waiting for the day when women will finally wake up and realize just how AWFUL their legs look without hose. Oh sure, in the middle of summer in a sundress and sandles it's fine. I do that, but in heels and a business suit? It looks like something a redneck from a West Virginia trailer park would do. Even Katie Couric's mother would call her up and tell her how badly her legs looked during the show with no hose on. So ladies, PLEASE, pay attention to an article like this and wear these things and you'll discover you look a hundred times better when you put on clothing. You'll stand up straighter, have a flat tummy, a tucked-in bottom and perky boobs. What more could you ask for!!!

basketpam....I agree 100% with every word you wrote. I work out a lot, do Pilates, etc. and have a very toned body. That being said, Spanx hosiery or tights and a slip make a dress or skirt glide over my body, none of that awful jiggle or cling I see on other women. Under pants, it's always either high-waist thigh length Spanx or the high-waist opaque Spanx tights. In the summer, it's spray on leg makeup for flawless legs when wearing a skirt or dress along with a slip. While the names of the items have changed, I was taught by my mother, grandmother and other impeccably dressed women that this is the way a well-dressed, elegant woman dresses....end of discussion!
