Four Awesome Mascaras You'll Love, Too

If there's one cosmetic item that the majority of women wear, it's likely mascara. Even femmes who prefer a bare face swipe a little mascara on their lashes every now and then.

In addition to highlighting and "opening" your actual eyes, mascara also defines your eyelashes. Depending on the type of mascara you wear, your lashes will give off that girly, feminine playfulness, add edge and drama or simply accentuate your current lash line. Below are four mascaras that I've personally tried and would recommend.

Mini Mascara Tutorial: Begin at lash roots. Wiggle brush so lashes get between the bristles. To apply to lower lashes, hold wand vertically. Do not pump brush in container, as this adds air that can dry out the mascara. To prevent clumping, let mascara dry between coats and always remove with eye makeup solvent.

Clinique's Lash Doubling Mascara
If you're looking for a lighter formula that still defines your peepers, opt for Clinique's Lash Doubling Mascara ($14.50). It magnifies lashes to twice their size without causing heavy or tarantula-esque eyelashes.

LashControl Mascara
Here's a new product for anyone who appreciates innovative cosmetics. LashControl mascara ($20) comes in a squeezable tube that allows you to determine just how much mascara you feel like applying. By squeezing as you pull the wand out of the tube, you a) avoid excess mascara on your lashes and b) avoid wasting precious product. The mascara itself goes on smoothly and is light enough for daytime wear, but heavy enough to truly make an impact come night time.

Arbonne Triple Action Mascara
As its name implies, Arbonne's Triple Action Mascara ($30) is a triple threat. It works to define, lengthen and volumize lashes with every coat applied. It's a super light formula that's ideal for the office, business lunches and weekend errands. It goes on lightly and adds just enough oomph to define your eyes. In my experience, it also curls your lashes upward.
