After all these years, I am still in awe how (my) mug changes colors when hot coffee is poured in. Is that some kind of rocket science? :-) I love to collect mugs. And that "changing color/hot/cold" mug of mine is one of my favs. What is added to the clay when it was molded anyway? To suffice the curiosity of this old woman (:-)), is someone out there who can tell me how it is made to change color? Thanks. Cheers!!!

I don't know how the color changes but I can suggest that you search for your answer by asking goggle how it is done. Whenever I have questions on how something is done I have always goggled my quesion and it will pull up the answers to my question. Hope that helps you figure out your mystery on how your coffee cup changes color when you add hot coffee to it and and changes color when it cools down.

Remember the mood rings a few years ago? I don't know how hey worked but they changed color when your mood changed. Also, I was on a trip to one of the Carribean Islands where there is a store that has products such as hair clips, bracelets, necklaces and earrings all that changed color when it's worn in the sunlight. They also had tee shirts and other items that changes color when in the sun. Maybe the heat has something to do with the change of color of your coffee mug.

My daughtr got me the cutest Betty Boop coffee mug for Christmas. It's my fav. coffee cup today, it always puts a smile on my face and I love the unique shape it has. The handle is large and rounded and so much easier to handle than your everyday smaller curve most of them have.

I am the kind of person that does not use the same coffee cup every day of the week. I like to use a difference type of cup every day, just to keep thing difference. no 2 cup are alike. In my cabinet,

I have some odd cups and mugs. One has a cat sitting in the bottom, one has a cow also on the bottom.I have my late MIL's little cup with a frog on the bottom. The frog fell out once and I had to re-glue it.I have one teal greenish clay type of mug that looks and is sort of shaped like a cactus but looks more like a small pitcher.I also have a small Krispy Kreme coffee cup.

Hello Everyone.
replyThe coffee mugs shown above are cute, but not very practical, unless you intend on showing off that cup by many trips back and forth to the coffee machine.
I prefer the four-cup version. I also prefer the bottom be wider than the top of the mug. Additionally, never, ever use plastic, as it will eventually turn into a tooth-paste like goo, after it is done breaking down slowly while you "enjoy" many cups...
Remember, heat rises. That is important to remember because the longer one can keep the hot coffee at the bottom of mug rather than at the top, the less likely it is to cool so fast.
Lastly, please do not use any coffee that is making your tongue turn brown or your teeth yellow. Even with good coffee it is wise to rinse the mouth often while drinking the coffee, or afterward, because of the acidity and the sugar...
Hope this helps.

I work for a large retail store. Several years ago our store manager took a higher position in the company and left our store. It was as if we were in mourning because this manager was a good man and great boss. A couple days later his wife came to us with gifts from him and her. Mine was a pink coffee mug from Starbucks and it means the world to me. I never drink my morning coffee without it being in it. It's a reminder of the friendship and the good times we had working together. Not only with me but with the rest of the store. My pink mug will hold many pots of coffee on into the future!
