Spring 2012 Trend: Knitwear

The Spring 2012 runway was hot with knitwear. Juicy Couture and Tommy Hilfiger kept things fresh with bright knitwear in unexpected color combos; Chanel, Jason Wu and Derek Lam offered a modern twist to the cable/knitwear trend and Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs and Rachel Zoe impressed with their casual chic versions of the trend. In short: knitwear is totally in for Spring 2012. The best part? Knitwear is as comfortable as it is luxurious-looking; as flattering as it is chic.

Knitwear will keep you warm as temperates slowly begin to rise, but won't leave you sweltering and sweating (a major fashion don't!). I love an oversized crocheted sweater with a pop of color underneath. Pair it with leggings and minimal accessories for an easy breezy casual chic vibe. Or, dress the look up with a teetering stiletto in a splashy hue. Alternatively, keep things ultra low key with a patent leather flat and sunglasses.

If you're looking for a brand that specializes specifically in knitwear, give a brand such as Pure Handknit a go. As the name implies, every product is knit by hand. Their Spring 2012 collection is full of fresh colors and styles, from oversized cardigans to flattering tanks to beach-inspired hats and beyond. Pictured at top left is their Ramble on Cardigan, a 100% cotton top with ruffles and linear button details.
