Spring/Summer 2012 Trend: Aquatic

The Earth is already comprised of approximately 70 percent water, so why not let it take over a little extra space by donning aquatic inspired pieces on that killer body of yours?

From sea foam greens, corals and cool blues to embroidered and beaded mermaid scales to whale pendants, the spring/summer 2012 runways took a major dive under the sea.

You can incorporate the aquatic trend into your outfit several ways. Sometimes -- and I find this gets me the most mileage for my money -- I prefer to make a subtle nod to current trends.

For the aquatic trend, you can do that by simply wearing colors that hint at ocean life. Think sandy browns, tropical blues, palmy greens, muted corals and iridescent purples. Go bolder with aquatic prints, but remember: less is always more when it comes to flashy textiles.
