Chevron Stripes: A Flattering Alternative to Traditional Horizontals

I'm all for a moderate dose of drama when it comes to style, so it's no surprise I'm all over the spring and summer 2012 chevron stripe trend. I love the chevron stripe because it's bold and eye-catching, but isn't so extreme that it warrants unwanted attention. Plus, this diagonal pattern is ultra flattering no matter how you wear it.

You'll find the chevron just about everywhere, including bathing suits, light cardigans, sheer camisoles, oversized tanks and even as accessories. The chevron stripe gives off a slightly retro-meets-modern vibe (one of my favorite vibes, ladies), and, as you can see, can be dressed up or down.

Pictured at top left are Sandy Hyun "Deco Lucite" Multi Chevron Lucite Earrings ($70), Bebe Neon Chevron Stripe Sweater ($69) and FELICITY & COCO V-Neck Chevron Stripe Jersey Dress ($68). Below are some garments and accessories that feature the chevron stripe.
