Staying on top of all the latest hair, beauty and fashion products is part of my job requirement, but I have to admit that it's a blast to read about and try an assortment of new products throughout the year.
I've always contended that a woman's coiffure is one of her best assets (it truly is her number one accessory), so when it comes to hair products, I'm extremely picky.
With that said, when I find an amazing new product that does wonders on my hard-to-manage, prone-to-frizz head of hair, I want to gab about my finds with anyone who will listen.
Today, that's you. I've included some new products to hit the market and also some tried and true favorites.
Universal Hair Concepts (re)FRESH Dry Shampoo, $15
I've tried roughly a million different dry shampoos and most of them are misses. Try as they might, so many leave hair looking stringy or overly dry and do little to cover up that day 2/3 hair smell. On occasion, however, I find a dry shampoo that actually does what it says. Universal Hair Concepts'
(re)FRESH dry shampoo, which comes in two scents, is a lightweight formula that soaks up excess oil, gives hair a little bounce and adds a subtle scent to make you feel fresh again.
Jonathan High Shine Flexible Hair Spray, $22
One of my all time favorite hair brands, hands down, is
Jonathan Product. The gluten-free brand is dedicated to bringing its customers 100% vegan, earth-friendly products free of nasty chemicals and fillers. I've been using the High Shine Flexible Hairspray for over a year now and love every aspect of it. It provides hold, but never leaves hair feeling crunchy or sticky; it smells light and salon-y; protects hair from UV rays and color fading; and nourishes hair. Cheers to that.
Semi Di Lino Diamante Illuminating Shampoo and Conditioner, $18/$24
When looking for the right shampoo, I want a product that nixes built up product residue, smells amazing and leaves my hair full instead of limp. So, when stylist Frank Galasso -- whose clientele includes Kim Kardashian, Emmy Rossum and Vanessa Williams -- recommended
Alaparf Milano's Semi Di Lino Diamente products, I had to give them a go. Verdict: I'm in love. They smell super salon-y and I can practically feel my hair getting healthier as I massage the shampoo/conditioner into my scalp. They're moderately expensive at $18/$24 each, but a little goes a long way and it should last many months. In my opinion, hair products are definitely worth the splurge.
Lush The Strokes Hair Treatment, $18.95
My frizzy mane is sometimes impossible to control, especially come monsoon season here in Phoenix, Arizona. With a name like, "The Strokes Hair Treatment," I had to try
Lush's anti-frizz product. It fuses "moisturizing olive oil, cognac oil and beer gently flattens down the surface cells to smooth and add shine to unruly manes. Plus, fresh lemon grass, mint, sage and thyme keep the scalp in fantastic condition." I love how Earthy and natural this product smells and it does tame my wild mane.
