Fall 2012 Trend Report: Graphic Sweaters

Don't say I didn't warn you when you start to see all kinds of bold prints on time-honored sweaters in just a few weeks. These aren't just basic patterns, either - these are serious graphics that defy convention, command attention and steal the spotlight. To that end, it's best to wear them with simple bottoms so that there isn't too much competition going on. Not to say that I don't advocate adventure, of course - just play it safe when you're headed to, say, the office.

Speaking of the workplace, this Mint Mocha Latte Cardigan ($34.99) is sure to be a favorite when temperatures start to cool. Almost too adorable for words, it features a rather unexpected color palette that is also incredibly autumnal. It begs the question: why don't we pair forest green with warm mocha more often? A delicious combo that just works!

An eighties-esque intarsia graphic sets this San & Soni Slina Bold Graphic Sweater ($298) apart from its rack-mates. Covering both the front and back, the print brings this cold-weather essential to life.

You can always count on a chic zigzag print to see you through the day with class and style. Designed by Joseph A, this printed cardigan ($34.99) offers a hint of Missoni-style charm - minus the astounding price tag.

Rich stripes of color lend this Forever 21 Vibrant Retro Print Sweater ($22.80) eye-catching appeal. Thanks to the soft cream backdrop, the bold pops of coral and red really stand out. Fun and youthful!
