Fall 2012 Trend: Snakeskin

Out are the furry animal prints of spring and summer and in are textures from cold-blooded critters. That, of course, includes snakeskin, a subtle print that's ultra chic and sophisticated. It pairs well with all sorts of other textures, too, including leather, silk, cotton and even jersey.

You can wear your snakeskin via an accessory -- I love a sleek satchel or pump -- or as a garment. To keep things streamlined, opt for only minor snakeskin details in the form of fringe, earrings, a buckle or even on your nails. If you dare to go there, try something that's a bit more in your face. For example, a snakeskin-inspired jacket, dress, pant or legging will surely amp up your ensemble.
