The perfect tween girl holiday gift: Jewelry Design for the DS

A hot pick this holiday season for tween and teenage girls is the Style Lab Jewelry Design game by Ubisoft for the Nintendo DS. Testing out this game made me seriously jealous that I wasn't a girl in 2009. I can only imagine how much fun a young girl would have playing this game.

Users design their own jewelry pieces by mixing and matching various beads and charms on the game. They can create a bracelet, necklace or earrings. Use the stylus to drag and drop your choices into your design.

...Paul McCartney.

Paul McCartney - Good Evening New York CityIt's just like that game young teens played in the '60s: Who's your favorite Beatle? McCartney topped a poll of Americans--presumably those same teen girls all grown up now--with nearly 30 percent of the vote. He dominated among those over 30 and over 65.

Guitar Hero: So Your Next Party Rocks!

guitar hero party guitar hero red octane packEvery year at Thanksgiving, we set up a game room in my mother's house for the kids. Of course the "kids" are mostly in their 30's now, but we cousins still enjoy goofing off together over the holidays. For the past couple of years, the main feature of our Thanksgiving game room was a Playstation 2 and a few different versions of Guitar Hero. Teaming up to rock an arena concert is a great way to bond with family over the holidays -- we definitely recommend checking out some of these great Guitar Hero products for your next family gathering or party.

UbiSoft's Petz Dolphinz Encounter: great gift for ocean lovers

Recently, I went to lunch with some folks from game company UbiSoft. They demoed a number of games for the holiday season but one game that stood out for me was Petz Dolphinz Encounter. I have two boys, both of whom love marine life and visits to the aquarium.

Robotic Mood Tail

It seems like a lot of today's popular gadgets are either motion controlled or wireless -- Wii, the new Apple Multi-Touch and this Robotic Mood Tail. What is that you ask? Well according to Engadget, it's a form of wearable technology constructed by young DIYer, Wei-Chieh Tseng. It uses Arduino and an RFID reader to detect different emotion cards that are tagged to create various ways to wag the tail. You can control the movements by using a Wii nunchuck.
