Weber Charcoal Chimney Starter

  • Pros:
    fast and hot
  • Cons:
bottom charcoal is spent too quick
  • Summary:
this chimney works great and saves a lot of time when getting ready for a BBQ. only problem as stated before is that some of the coals are spent early but its not that big a deal because even the spent coals will last for another thirty minutes or so which is just enough time to cook some steaks burgers and dogs.

  • Pros:
Gets the charcoals/hardwoods going quick! Efficient & sturdy.
  • Cons:
    None yet....
  • Summary:
Saves you time getting the grill going. I use a Lodge Cast Iron Sportsman's Habachi grill so this is a must have. Try using Hickory or Mesquite instead of charcoal for a more flavorful smoke. Bought bags of it at a local Walmart.

  • Pros:
    Huge time saver, good price
  • Cons:

  • Summary:
If you have a charcoal grill, this is a must. You can usually find this for under 10 bucks, and it's well worth much more than that. Using this will greatly speed up the time it takes for your charcoal to get to cooking temperature.

I was not aware of the existence of this type of charcoal starter and was about to give up on my charcoal grill. This is a nice and sturdy charcoal grill. I would dfinitely recommend this gril for anyone who is having trouble lighting their charcoal grills.

  • Pros:
Heavy duty metal "can", large capacity, conical internal grate
  • Cons:
    second wire handle
  • Summary:
Overall, I'm really pleased with this chimney charcoal starter. I've gone through 3 in about 10 years of grilling/BBQ. This one by far, is the best built one. Others have eventually rusted out after a couple years. My only issue is with the extra handle shown in the pic. I normally don't use a glove as shown on the wrapper and I have to be careful that the handle doesn't fall down on my bare hand when hot. I guess some people may need the extra handle to help empty the chimney so gloves would be appropriate in this case. I also like the conical inside grate which helps with get the coals started quicker by concentrating the paper fire closer to the core of the charcoal. My wife bought this from Amazon a couple weeks ago for $9 which was a steal for this solidly made chimney along with a replacement grate to get free shipping. Time will tell if this holds up well but comparing my previous chimneys to this heavy duty one, I anticipate I'll get many more years from this vs. my previously used chimneys.
