Microsoft Halo 3 Legendary Edition
- By bunty7 02/27/2008
- Pros:
Comes with Bonus disk & helmet - Cons:
Helmet interior is too small to fit -
Summary:
I went for the legendary edition of Halo 3 mainly because I thought it be really cool to wear master chief's helmet & move around. Jokes aside, I wasn't expecting the helmet to be designed in such a way that it cannot fit a normal head. It is more of a cover for DVD cases. Still it looks impressive from outside though the plastic on it doesn't look very strong. I really loved the contents of bonus disc. The fact that you can watch all the cut scenes from entire Halo series is really a big bonus. Last but not the least - the game rocks. It has so many features , especially for multiplayer that it will keep you busy for a long long time. To enjoy & appreciate the single player, you really need to play it on legendary difficulty. One of the best games ever - no doubt about it

- Pros:
Freaking sweet Spartan Helmet. You get the game too. Pretty box to put it all in. - Cons:
Freaking small Spartan Helmet...they couldn't have made it a little bigger? PRICE- although they did remedy this at some stores to clear stock. -
Summary:
As someone who has played Halo since the early original XBOX days (said like it was 50 years ago now), Halo 3 is leaps and bounds better than Halo 2, but still doesn't quite measure up to the original.Everything that was wrong with Halo 2 has been fixed (for now): i.e. cheaters, bridgers, super-bounces, ridiculous no-scopes, low-life scum who made the game unplayable online. Now that this has been sorted, you can pretty much play a normal game and OWN the guys who stuck it to you in Halo 2 :) The game is fun again. Couple that with Bungie online stats and forums, and you have one of the greatest game franchises to date. The package comes with the Helmet, which is awesome, an extra DVD of extras and a art boot. Is it worth the extra money...no, but find it on sale and you won't be disappointed. Recommended.

- Pros:
Superb gameplay, Xbox Live multiplayer, collector's helmet - Cons:
The content on the Legendary bonus DVD is pretty bad, helmet is not wearable, artwork for the DVD cases are black and white -
Summary:
If you are a Halo fanatic, then the Legendary Edition is for you. It comes with a collector's helmet with stand, the Halo 3 packaging box, poster, and the exclusive Legendary disc. The artwork for the game cases are a dull black and white, which sucks. Were they trying to save money on ink? Another major disappointing thing is the Halo 1 & 2 cut-scenes on the Exclusive disc are horrible in quality. They compressed it to ps1 cut-scene quality to be able to squeeze it all on one disc. Now onto the actual game. If you have played Halo 1 and 2, you know what to expect. Massive battles, intelligent A.I., intriguing storyline and awesome weapons. The weapons are more balanced and the level are better designed to involved back-tracking. Although the single-player experience is fun, it is a tad bit short. An experienced Halo gamer can probably win the game in 6-9 hours depending on the difficulty. As for the on-line multi-player feature, Halo 3 is the best. There new levels, modes, and the weapons are now well-balanced. The innovative Forge mode allows you to design your own battle modes. For example, I designed a Pac-Man like mode where you have one person trying to navigate through the maze to get the rocket launcher while you have others with hammers trying to demolish that person. There quantum possibilities and you can share and play them all on Live. Overall, Halo 3 LE is for those hardcore Halo fans. But at the price you can get them for today (I got my for only $60), it is the must get edition.

- Pros:
Package contents - Cons:
Helmet quality can be better -
Summary:
As the Xbox crown jewel, Halo requires no further introduction and if you need one, there is a multitude of websites dedicated to the Halo universe. What I'll focus here in this review is the Legendary edition of Halo 3.This edition is huge in terms of size. What's included is a scale replica of the Master Chief's hemlet that serves as both a classy display and the home of your Halo game collection (Halo 1 and 2 sold separately). Also included is an interactive bonus disc, Legendary DVD and Beastiarum (included on the DVD).The Legendary edition can currently be had now for about $80 if you shop around. It is a more reasonable price to jump for the Legendary Edition than the original $130 price tag.

- Pros:
Multi-player is very well done, Graphics are nice, Helmet looks very nice, Can be found for much cheaper than MSRP - Cons:
Single-player campaign is short, Expensive at MSRP -
Summary:
This game is undoubtedly one of the most popular in 2007. It has an incredibly fun single player campaign (albeit short compared to the first two installments), tremendously fun multiplayer, and is the finish of a legendary trilogy. The Legendary edition gives you the bonus disks and the helmet. The helmet is amazing. It is VERY large, is extremely nice quality, looks great, and is an awesome collectors item to boot. Unfortunately, one cannot wear it. I purchased this for $60, and at that price (same as normal game) it is a steal! An extremely great value for the price. At its MSRP of $130, however, it cannot be recommended. Luckily, many retailers are selling it highly discounted.
