Is it fair to have to certain trends for certain ages? We felt that some trends are just not suitable for women who are over 40. Does a 50 year old woman really need to wear "Key West" or anything else for that matter, across her backside?
Let us know if you think that certain trends are only OK for certain ages or if we should all just toss the rules of fashion out the window and wear what you want to wear... no matter how old you are.

1. I agree with all of the above, except the back pack. Because I use a back pack when I am riding my bike, for axcerise, and put my bottle water in it. I have tried to think of other solutions for my bottled water and holding it, or holding a purse with it in it, is too difficult because it makes me(the rider) unbalanced. So the back pack is on my back and works fine. I am 58 yrs old. and I would not go anywhere else with it, like shopping or such. If anyone has a better solution for a way to carry water while riding a bike, please reply.

2. I totally agree. I am 41 and look pretty young for my age. I purchased a babydoll top and it made me look like I was pregnant! The crocs are ugly no matter what the age, YUK!! I won't put leggins on because I am not trying to bring attentionto my CELLULITE! String what!

3. I love babydoll tops! I love Trapese tops! I am 48 years old and don't give one iota that someone might think I'm pregnant! I am stylish and beautiful, comfortable and confident. A wonderful thing about getting older is being able to feel great, wear what I like and NOT CARE about what others think. I have one life and I refuse to live it being bound by "the rules" about silly things like fashion.

4. I totally disagree with your comments, I feel writting on the back of jog pants is fine for all people, I feel leggings are fine worn as pants and I feel Crocs are fine worn as shoes by the public regardless of the year onyour birth certificate. I feel bikinis are fine if you have a decent body. I feel backpacks are fine for everyone and this trying to make people feel like they are inaprropriate for living with certain style is people bashing and is demeaning to everyone.

5. I agree on all of your dont's---but then there are the women in their 40's who dress too old---they wear stuff that their grandma's could wear-very loose fitting with very boring patterns like a fern leaf or something like that--and some of these women have great figures to show off---or what about the ones who only have a "cutesy" t-shirt collection from every place they've ever been, every school/camp they've ever volunteered for, or the sayings ones like" "I'm the Mom that's why"-----and these t-shirts are like their mom "uniform". It drives me insane. I am no fashionista but I leave the goofy t-shirts for working out/sleeping and the beach.

6. If you are over forty and still beautiful, you may dress as you please. It's articles like this that make people feel awful about themselves, and doubt their taste. Jibbitz are fun-- baby doll dresses are comfortable AND fashionable. And whoever wrote this article obviously knows nothing about the best accessory you can wear-- confidence in yourself and what you enjoy!

7. I agree with the back-pack. What else are you to do when biking. I also wear leggings to the gym. I find them easy to move in, and they do not get caught in the equipment. I do not wear them any other place.

8. I agree also. i am 49 and its difficult trying to find apropriate clothing for my age group. What was with those pants that didnt cover the booty? Or the tops that didnt cover the navel? Anyways i had to resort to second hand stores to find clothes.Im too young for poly and too old for being naked. LOL. Wish there was more to choose from.

9. I agree with the above. However, the backpack for biking is OK...like what else are we to do. When I go to the gym I frequently wear leggings. I find them very easy to move in, and do not get caught in the equipment. I feel worse in those tiny little shorts.

10. I agree with the entire article. But one mention regarding the tops this past season....all the tops look like maternity tops....and over 40? They look downright ridiculous! What on earth were the fashion guru's thinking?

11. I think this is a good list if your a fashion concious person, but I think it's better to let yourself be left wearing what you want. Looks are a first impression but mean nothing. I think crocks and backpack really shouldn't be on there, though. A tote? A backpack's way more convenient and crocks are simply footwear, if it's confortable, wear it. If it's not, trash it. I don't really mind if someone replies to this or not, but I just want my opinion out there for you people to see.

12. Back packs are appropriate for all ages, I wear mine on all day shopping trips and take it with me when I travel, it also goes on day hiking trips with me.
Back packs are not just for kids, they are for active people of all ages, and because of their versatility can be used by all ages.

13. I agree with these things. Writing opn older peoples butts is.. is.. Gross. Personally, I think women over fourty should not shop in stores meant for teens, such as Abercrombie, Aeropostle,or American Eagle. Just because you can fit in their clothes, doesn't mean you should wear them. It makes me mad seeing a fifty-three year old in the same babydoll tank as me. I think middle age women should stick to GAP and Old Navy.

14. I totally disagree with just about everything. I am 52 years old with a 36-25-34 figure. I work out 6 days a week to keep healthy and because I just want to stay as fit and active as I can throughout my ENTIRE life. I ride 30 miles a week on my bike and feel like I am a kid. I ENJOY working out and feeling good about the results I get, not for anyone else but me. I weigh the same as I did in high school after having 2 children who are now grown. So........... I will continue to wear my little old bikini as long as I can, btw when I go to the beach I look better then the girls 30 years younger then me!! So fooey on what u should and should not wear. I say if you can, and look good, then go for it. We only go around one time!! Maybe this article was written by a 40 year old who needs a diet and makeover, I do not!!

15. At age 60, I am more than tired of being told what to wear, what to do, what to talk about, etc. For any age, wear what looks good on you and, most of all, wear what makes you feel good. Have fun--life is short.

16. I think is terrible when people are put in groups...whatever those groups are. You feel good, you look good..wear whatever you want at any age.
I'm 50 years old...and my body kicks ass.
The disconfort is for the ones that are looking at you. Deal with it !!!!
I refuse to participate in some sort of general consense just to comply with the society.
It's 2008...lets all move on and grow up and stop judging people for what they wear or their weight.
And to finish...who died and made these people the ultimate fashion patrol????

17. My wife is 52, she is told constantly that she looks like she's in her thirties. She looks great in her bikini, her skin tone is still great and you can bounce coins on her stomach. Her legs are fantastic and she looks great in a baby doll dress or top. I've never been wild about the advertisement on the butt thing or crocks, so I'd leave that to personal choice. A backpack is a functional piece of gear. I don't think anyone looks at it as a fashion assessory as long as it's not a HelloKitty or some other trend thing. As long as she's "got the look" I think she should dress as she likes. I've seen many a young guys heads turn for second or third looks. When she starts sagging or having vein problems, then it will be time to loose the bikini.

18. Where do people get off telling someone of a certainage what to wear?! There are plenty of 20 and 30 somethings out there that look way older than 40 and are fat and out of shape that shouldn't wear a bikini and still do. So does that make it OK since they aren't 40? If you are 40 or 50..... and look good wear what you want!!!!

19. you're full of it, the only one good suggestion is the first one the writing on the bottoms, if a woman 40+ have the body for a 2 piece swimsuit or a babydoll dress then why not wear it.

20. I am a 50+ male and think you recommendations are right on. I do not know about others but my Mother and Grandmother always discussed age appropriate dress with us. Glad to see that the concept is still practiced by some. To me, there is no woman sexier than a 40+ and 50+ woman dressed in age appropriate attire.
