Is it fair to have to certain trends for certain ages? We felt that some trends are just not suitable for women who are over 40. Does a 50 year old woman really need to wear "Key West" or anything else for that matter, across her backside?
Let us know if you think that certain trends are only OK for certain ages or if we should all just toss the rules of fashion out the window and wear what you want to wear... no matter how old you are.

21. Where do people get off telling someone of a certainage what to wear?! There are plenty of 20 and 30 somethings out there that look way older than 40 and are fat and out of shape that shouldn't wear a bikini and still do. So does that make it OK since they aren't 40? If you are 40 or 50..... and look good wear what you want!!!!

22. you're full of it, the only one good suggestion is the first one the writing on the bottoms, if a woman 40+ have the body for a 2 piece swimsuit or a babydoll dress then why not wear it.

23. I am a 50+ male and think you recommendations are right on. I do not know about others but my Mother and Grandmother always discussed age appropriate dress with us. Glad to see that the concept is still practiced by some. To me, there is no woman sexier than a 40+ and 50+ woman dressed in age appropriate attire.

24. I am well over 40 and have great legs, but a tummy I like covered. Leggings and a longish tunic top suit me just fine.

25. I think it's a little arrogant to be making rules about what other people ought to wear or not wear. I've seen some beautiful women in their 60's wearing a bikini and looking better than some out-of-shape 19 year old. Katherine Hepburn and other classically fashionable women NEVER listened to what the so-called experts had to say, they made their own rules and were much better off for it. Save the advice, sweetheart, it's not needed.

26. Patti G. can rock those Crocs like she were a 21 year old!

27. This is unfair to tell every women over 40 that they should not wear these tipes of clothes. Everyone is not made the same, some women have a better body than a teenager. The statments in this are unfair and very insulting.

28. I agree with most of these, but I don't see the problem with Crocs. In fact, most of the people I see with them are older. I am on my feet a lot at work, true, but I wear them almost everywhere. I think you should have included extremely high heels on this list. My aunt is 69 and I'm afraid she's going to break her neck some day. And backpacks are sports equipment. Biking's a sport.

29. I'm not sure how this site works, but if my message is repeated, please excuse it. I'm just trying it out.
People should just be themselves regardless of what anyone else thinks. Stuffing people into neat little cubbyholes dictated by age is ridiculous, unless you're dealing with underaged kids who need guidance. Otherwise, BE YOURSELVES. The date on one's birth certificate is NONE OF ANYONE ELSE'S BEESWAX.

30. I absolutely do not agree!!.. In this day and age.. we all know by now that age does not dictate your style.. I think alot of it has to do with you lifestyle and your location.. I live in southern california and its truly amazing how many women here are over 40 but have the looks and bodys of 20 somethings and they can get away with bikini's and even babydoll dresses.. I'ts time to note how many "young" women should watch how they dress. I'm so tired of seeing overweight young girls in lowcut jeans with muffin tops hanging out and fat bellied young girls with bellybutton rings that are hardly noticeable because their stomach rolls are cascading over the belly.. It's not an age thing necessarly . I'm mean!! .. hey.. demi moore.. the ladies on desperate housewives..

31. I think this article is off base. Even some of the styles for younger people do not look good on them. Some of the styles look trashy no matter what your age. I do not think age has anything to do with it. If you carry yourself well and with confidence you should wear what you want. I am over 40 and look better in a bikini than many teenagers. I am proud of that and I carry it well.

32. I wear leggings every day and enjoy them, I have some babydoll tops, I don't care and I have mocs!

33. I agree with everything except the Crocs....they are so comfortable. I wear them around the house, to the pool/beach and when I am walking 3-5 miles around the neighborhood. I do not routinely wear them as casual shoes, although I have run to the grocery store in them.

34. I have a problem with the tunic tops. They look like maternity wear, especially on a short person. Plus, you said no leggings, but all the models in the links you had were wearing tunics with leggings. What are you suppose to wear with a tunic then? I would love to be able to wear a tunic without having someone ask me if I was pregnant!

35. I am over forty and have a small built,so I wear leggings only with tops that are long enough to cover my backyard. I wear crocs only on weekends. I sometimes wear them to work because I teach preschool and I am on my feet alot. The kids love it when I wear them. Baby Doll tops have too much material for my small frame. I feel pregnant in them.
No matter what your age, if you look good and feel good in what you ae wearing, wear it!

36. I believe that you are as young as you feel. Yes I totally agree with the pants with words on your butt a big NO NO if you are over 40!! But backpacks and baby doll tops and dress it depend on the style of both. Let's face girls we may look young and feel young but some clothes just make us look silly and we should not be ashame of being sexy and FORTY!!

37. Yes & no, as a guy I love to see my wife in a bikini, she runs and takes great care of her body, she is in her 40's. Mini skirts and tank tops, she gets complements on her looks on a regular basis. The only negitive looks she gets come from women her age who husband / boyfriend would rather look at her instead of the woman their with

38. This is the STUPIDIST thing I ever read.
I am 47 1/2 The grandmother to two babies and I will wear what I want to wear as long as it is appropriate for where I am going. You are telling me, an older and wiser mature woman that I shouldn't wear writing on my "SWEATPANTS" when nowadays you can attend a formal wedding and watch a young girl walking down the isle with a large tiger tatoo on her back showing above the formal gown she is wearing. But thats ok because she is younger than 40. Get Real!! But your right about leaving the looking SILLY to the younger generation, Some of them do it sooo well. As for crocs on my feet, I'll take that anyday over a tiger tatoo on my shoulder at my sons wedding.

39. Kind of corny advice. I'm in my early 30's and have seen better lookin' older women that looked much better in what the advice said "not to do/wear." I'd rather see someone who is older who takes care of themselves in a bikini than a 20 or 30 something year old that got the "hangover" and tatoos coming out of their crack. While I agree some things don't look good on "older" women, I also agree the same doesn't look on many younger women as well. Example, thong hanging out of pants. Who would that look good on? Anyone who can sport it. Certainly not an obese young person.

40. I totally disagree with the guidelines. I am 50 and work very hard to be in the best shape possible. So I won't apoligize to anyone when I sport a tiny bikini at the pool...there are lots worse things to see than my body! Ladies, wear what you like and be who you are!!
