Is it fair to have to certain trends for certain ages? We felt that some trends are just not suitable for women who are over 40. Does a 50 year old woman really need to wear "Key West" or anything else for that matter, across her backside?
Let us know if you think that certain trends are only OK for certain ages or if we should all just toss the rules of fashion out the window and wear what you want to wear... no matter how old you are.

81. I am not in the "over 40" club yet but I am going on 35 years old. I think "class" depends on the person overall and not what they opt to wear. When I was in my 20's and had a hot body they didn't have low-rise jeans or belly-button rings!!! If they did, I would have had one! I too, as a lot of people stated use a small backpack for bireriding, I also wear crocs to walk around the block, although I do have two jibbitz on a another pair. I can understand that if you're over 50, you're pushing it with wearing sayings on your butt, but let me tell you, I plan on losing my weight that I have been carrying around the past 10+ years and if I become my ideal weight and feel I look great, I will have "PINK" plastered all over my butt!!! Whoever wrote this, has to be a guy!!!

82. I'm glad to see most of the people who write on this are thinking that you, whomever wrote the article, is full of doo-doo. Probably a skinny 19 year old man~

83. I am over 65, and crocs are great comfort for old feet (ie....the little old lady in tennis shoes)and also very cheerful to wear. Backpacks are critically useful for hands free times (ie..hiking and touring) I think practicality should be the issue, not style.

84. I think this article is one of the most stupid things I have read in a long time. I think woman work to hard and get so much but on them that not only do I think we should be able to wear what we want when we want, I also think that the time spent on this article would have been better spent contecting with women on real life issues, not shallow worries of what a over critical society thinks. This article sent women back about fifty years.

85. I do not agree with anything. I truly believe in freedom, and a woman, beautiful of less beautiful is always really beautiful when she wears whatever make her feel comfortable. This rules sounds moral and old fashioned.

86. I'm having more trouble making sure my comment is on the air so to speak, than deciding what to wear. I guess my bikini with leggings and crocs are out, yes?

87. Why is it the minute a woman turns 40 you have to begin to dress and act like an "old" person. Age is but a number. I know quite a few women in their 40s who look better than those in their 20s. I think
if a women feels good about herself than let her be the one to decide what looks good on her. I agree with the individual who said maybe some young people need to look more carefully at themselves in a mirror before they step out of the house in a bikini or sweats with lettering on the butt..

88. Who thinks of these things!? Firstly babydoll dresses can be age appropriate depending on the color and/or print of the dress and when worn, shoes & accessories. A bright pink babydoll may not suit a 40+ year old, but a black or grey babydoll dress when worn with sandals and minimal jewelry (think simple studs and a bangle or a watch) looks fine. A few days ago AOL ran an article that babydoll dresses were great for plus size ladies. Pretty conflicting advice here if ask me.

89. I am a 46-year-old mother of a preschooler. I love my designer’s backpack; it keeps my hands free and my posture straight.

90. I agreat with all except the backpack. I carry a tote for when I go to my office job but I also carry a backpack for overnight stays or hiking and overnight stays.
You should also do a "Just because they make it in your size doesn't mean you look good in it." I see alot of overweight women wearing spandex shirts and mini skirts and among other gross things. I am an overweight woman who think it is just plain nasty looking.

91. I agree with all but the back pack - I am have to deal a lot with my mom that is handicapped and it makes a hands free for helping her out a lot better.

92. I disagree with two of your "don't". Crocks are great shoes for older people. They're comfortable, so who gives a **** what they look like. I'm 60 and have Crocs in six different colors and wear the new Crocs work shoe to work. Back packs distribute the weight evenly over your back. Shoulder bags just cause shoulder stress and pain.

93. Sorry, I'm a 65-year old grandma and I love my crocs and my Uggs! I'm all for comfort, and both these shoes fit the bill. I wear crocs almost every day in the summer, and Uggs quite often in the winter. I also love trapeze and empire-waist tunics. Don't make my fashion decisions for me!

94. Backpacks are a tool, not a fashion statement. There is no other way to keep hands free -- whether on a hike, outing with a grandchild, taking a course, or visiting...even the backpack pocketbook works at any age. At first I agreed that all others are off-limits; but that is because I have similar taste to the person that wrote the article. I wouldn't wear most things at any age. I think that if it fits or flatters and brings happiness, then wear it. Too many rules, too few years left!

95. Ok first of all it depends what you look like! leggins look good on people that are in shape! THATS IT and who cares if someone wants to wear crocks????? and as far as the backpack forget that, im 43 and need free hands when I go places I have three kids and two hands at least the back pack is out of the way! So im not sure what that is all about! DO agree to on the words on the butts PLEASE DONT LOL

96. I don't agree with the baby-doll dress comments. That style has the ability to make us over 40 look fabulous!! While we might be toned and fit in arms and legs, lets be real. Most of us have waist issues. Whether we've had kids, eaten too much or just plain have menopausal hormone issues, this style is good for us.

97. I think you should wear whatever is comfortable for you at any age. I am 58 and wear crocs, because they are so comfortable. My mother who is 89 now wears them. They are better for the feet than high heels. Whoever made up these rules?????????

99. Not every woman over 40 has the class to know what is appropriate for her and what isn't. The worst is fat women who think they look cute in anything! If you have a great bod and personality to go with it, you can pretty much wear what you want and be thought of as cool.

100. I'm under 40, but I think women over 40 should be able to wear what they want. I really disagree with the bikini "no-no" -- if you are in great shape (and hey, even if you're not) wear what you want!! I agree with the previous comment that there are lots of younger women dressing inappropriately these days, so why the focus on what older women should and shouldn't wear. I admit, however, seeing a women clearly over 45 and dressing like she's trying to be 20 may look a bit silly, but who really cares at the end of the day? If I'm in good shape when I hit 40, I'll see you at the beach in my bikini!! :)
