Workplace Wardrobe Malfunctions
O
ffice attire can be tricky business. Nowadays most work environments are pretty casual, which can be good and bad. With the freedom of being able to dress casual, comes the responsibility of being able to maintain a professional work environment.
I am a true believer that everything is not for everybody and that certain things are best left at home. Do your coworkers really need to see all of your non work related "business" in a mini skirt, plunging neckline, or pants that are too tight? Not only does it look unprofessional it borders on inappropriate. Wearing a t-shirt that says "Baby Mama" or "I Love Beer" is not only immature it is tacky and shouldnt be worn at all in public, much less your job.
Have you seen one of your office mates wear something that you felt would be better suited for the athletic or night club? Or are you guilty of one of our office malfunctions? Let us know what you think.
Fashion Rules For the 40+ Set
Is it fair to have to certain trends for certain ages? We felt that some trends are just not suitable for women who are over 40. Does a 50 year old woman really need to wear "Key West" or anything else for that matter, across her backside?
Let us know if you think that certain trends are only OK for certain ages or if we should all just toss the rules of fashion out the window and wear what you want to wear... no matter how old you are.
Upgrading your wedding ring? "I do" or "I don't"
T
his has been a very controversial topic in my own home. My husband and I just celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary and I have been planting the seed that when our 10th anniversary rolls around, I want a new ring.
We got engaged 8 years ago and while I do like my ring, I am ready for something different and more in line with who I am today. Although my husband did pick out my ring, even his tastes have evolved. He went from a fun loving beach bum to an ambitious guy who is a great husband and father. He traded in wild motorcycle riding days for road trips in our minivan.
He is of the mind set that a wedding ring, should not be viewed as costume jewelry and that it has sentimental history attached and that it is nice to look at the ring and see how far we have come and how far we can go.
Blah Blah Blah. My feeling is that a ring is just jewelry and not a true testament of our marriage, so there is nothing wrong with getting a new one. I think that upgrading your ring, is a nice way to celebrate your anniversary.
I have 4 more years to state my case and defend it, I will let you guys know in 2012 what the verdict is.
What do you think? Is it OK to upgrade your wedding ring?

Skip the dermatologist - Better skin is just a bottle away

There are so many skin care options is it really necessary to visit a doctor's office to have healthy vibrant skin?
As my age creeps up, I'm starting to think more and more about having a solid skin care routine. Trying out different cleansers, toners, exfoliants and moisturizers is not only costly but can be pretty time consuming.
Currently, I use a gentle cleanser like Lancome's Purifying Foaming Cleanser and follow it with AVON's Age Repair Elixir and their Ageless Results Renewing Day Cream. The elixir comes in an ultra cool gold bottle and is a little pricey at $54, but is worth every drop. It honestly makes your skin look and feel noticably better in just a few days. And the Day Cream is nice because it is non greasy and contains SPF 15. I can definitely see a difference in my skin.
Can maintaining healthy skin be this easy or is it necessary to go the route of "The Real Housewives of Orange County" and succumb to botox? Share your skin care secrets!
A Little Lovin' - Gift Ideas for Kids

Valentine's Day is the perfect time to show your amore for your little love bug. Here are some gift ideas that I have for my sweet little angels:
Pajamas - My kids look so angelic when they are asleep (hmm I wonder why) and they love coordinating in matching PJs. I know they will "heart" these cotton jammies from the Gap (and I heart the fact they are on sale!)
Toys - Combine sweets and sense with Connectagons, they come in a fun heart pattern especially for Valentine's Day. This will be perfect for my preschooler, who has a wonderfully stocked playroom but is often asking "Now what should I do?"
Books - I try to make sure that my girls are in love with themselves, not in a bratty spoiled way, but in a way that they truly know how special they are and they are always happy with who they see staring back in the mirror. What better way to drive the message home than with a "kid power" book like "I Like Myself" that they can enjoy the whole year round.
Frames - Call it narcissistic but kids love looking at pictures of themselves! Let your kid pick her favorite pictures from the past year and frame the pictures. You can hang the pictures in her room as a reminder of how wonderful her life truly is (even when she is in time out for trying to feed her sister a penny.)
Here are some other gift cool ideas for kids. Do YOU have any gift ideas?
Tory Burch - Wear The Rainbow

I have a major shoe crush. The Tory Burch Reva flat makes me giddy. I mean seriously. I have been admiring this shoe from afar for the past year. Initially when they burst on the scene I dismissed them --- thinking that they were overpriced shoes for the high society set but I cant seem to shake them. They are like skittles for your feet, they come in delicious colors like Orchard Pink, Banana Yellow and Grass Green, as well as super practical colors like Brown, Black and Navy. The gold TB logo takes them from mundane to uber sleek.
Okay they are a tad on the pricey side ($195) but they are super comfortable and can be worn with anything from wide leg jeans to skinny jeans (sorry but I think that these are going to be around for a while.)
And did I mention they even come in pint sizes for your mini me, at a "mere" $95 daughters and mommies can be equally sassy.
I am seriously considering indulging. Just need to be able to explain who Tory is to my husband. Maybe I can convince him that she is an out of network doctor from our insurance company.

The North Face Down Triclimate Jacket - Worth Every Penny

I have been searching for a functional (yet fashionable) winter jacket forever. As a mom, I was tired of being wet (getting the kids in and out of the car when it was raining) and cold (waiting on said kids to hurry up while enjoying nature on a 30 degree day.)
I was very specific in my wants: a coat that would be light enough that I could throw it on while running errands, but warm enough to wear when it was really cold outside. I wanted a hood for days when it is raining and preferred something that could be worn with both athletic-wear and jeans and still look casual and cute but not feel too bulky.
After extensive research I selected The North Face Down Triclimate Jacket in Brownie . It is basically 3 coats in one! There is a down liner that zips into a HyVent shell. You can use the liner and shell separately or together. The shell protects you from rain, snow etc while the down liner keeps you warm. When used together you have the quintessential winter jacket.
The price tag seems a little steep (around $350) but it is a sound investment that you will surely use for seasons to come.

Robeez - Perfect for Little Feet
Am I the only Mom who has to enlist armed forces to try and keep up with teeny weeny baby socks? Recently I threw away ALL of my youngest daughter's socks and purchased Robeez in several colors to match her outfits. They are a flexible and sturdy leather booty, but are not as unpractical as putting an actual shoe on a 6 month old. They come in tons of delicious colors and are pretty affordable.
